If I had to pick in January, which Russian player who had never gotten past a slam QF would make a slam final this year, I would have picked Kirilenko not Safina.

Wow, bosses from Yonex must be in heaven lately :lol: First Ana won RG (well, they had to dig deep into their pockets for that one, 10Mil $$$) and then in very next week Makiri in Barcelona :)

Just to clear something up. When I said my computer crashed at 3-1, I meant in the 2nd set. Just as maria seemed to be losing her edge. I know that might sound ridiculous (6-0, 3-1) but Maria has been known to blow the odd match!

I don't think clay will ever be her best surface, but her coach wants her to practice on it. He believes she will become a better player as a result. I get the feeling they have a long term plan.
