In the first set tonight, Sacha Jones made her first appearance in women's singles and came out on fire against Tammy Hendler who reached the Wimbledon Junior Semi-Finals just two weeks ago. Jones won the first four games of the encounter relying heavily on her forceful forehand. Down 4-0, Sacramento Coach Wayne Bryan decided to sub in tour veteran and grand slam doubles champion Elena Likhovtseva.

Likhovtseva was able to win the first two games by mixing up the pace. Sacha fell behind 3-1 in the seventh game but never lost her intensity. She first hit a blistering ace to pull to 3-2 and then a strong forehand to even the count. On the deciding 3-3 point, Jones ended a long rally with a stunning forehand winner, bringing the Kastles crowd to their feet and the victory in the set 5-2.
