Good job :yeah: She was seeded 4th?

I think this comeback surpasses any other this year. Dokic, Lucic, Bovina, Karatantcheva and Groenefeld barely compare to what Kimiko has done, especially considering her age.

Well done :)

Should be interesting to see where she plays next. :)

Just hoping it isn't $25K Miyazaki in July. :o

She wanted a WC for Strasbourg but directors tournaments didn't give one.

In terms of most suprising, I think Kimiko trumps Jelena, just because she's so old! In terms of results Dokic's is better. Duh.

Simply considering the fact that Kimiko is going to be 38 this year, and hadn't played a pro singles match since 1996, her return is definitely the most impressive, imho.

Despite her improved results this year, I don't even consider Dokic to have made a "comeback", since she never really left the game in the first pace.

I wonder how true this is...

Kimiko played a $50K on synthetic grass the week before Strasbourg. Knowing how hard she practised on the surface to prepare for the 3 events, I seriously doubt she would've gone to a WTA event with absolutely no preparation on red clay, and just after having played 3 straight weeks on synthetic grass.

Come on, it's a $10K, did she even beat anyone ranked? Her runs at the three $50Ks were more impressive.

Congratulations to Kimiko :)! Eventhough its only a 10K its great to see her win a title. It really is nice to see someone come back at her age, it just shows that she must really love the game!!!

Go Date! Well done. I just hope she gets back to the bigger tournaments soon so she can build to continue her comeback on the main tour!

It would have been very interesting if she got the chance to play Su-Wei Hsieh, top 100, she was in the draw, but lost in R2.

Well done, even if it's just a 10K. :yeah: I'd like to see her try to play some WTA events to see how she fares. I wouldn't expect too much but it certainly would be interesting.

... and it says,
"According to Kimiko's website, it looks like her next tourney is $25K Miyazaki, JPN (Week of 15 July).

Very disappointed that she's not scheduled to play overseas, yet. :( "

No more 10k's please. :help:

25k's I can just about live with. But really I would rather Kimiko stuck to 50k and upwards from now on. And yeah it would be nice if she did a bit of traveling overseas.

Oh well. I suppose the main thing is the get that ranking into the top 200 so perhaps next year she can at least play the Grand Slam qualies.

Isn't promoting tennis in Japan one of the main reasons for her return? If so, she has certainly done that! Congrats on the win!
