I know this is really useless stat because:
• players don't choose their opponents
• it doesn't really say anything about what kind of tournament a champion had / doesn't represent the toughness of opponent a player had to face

But I was curious and it was fun for me to find out, so I decided to share :)

Please, if you want to say anything like "Hahah player X had a cakewalk draw to her title!!!!111oneoneone", find some other place to.
If you want to say "This is a useless stat and doesn't really prove anything", don't: I know :)

Where's Hingis, oh yeah that's right Steffi Graf, has a more recent slam singles title than her.

Whatever. These stats are from 2000 and onwards- Martina retired in 2002, and with all due respect to Steffi, after watching that 1999 French open final on youtube, she only won that match because Martina self-destructed.

178? I guess thats the year she beat Olivia L in the first round, wasnt she ranked like in the 1000 or even unranked?

Thanks! :)

2001 Wimbledon -- Venus had to face all the big guns. Good for her.

I am surprised to see Justine's runs at RG so high. When I look back, I don't remember her playing anyone ranked so high because frankly, they usually crash and burn before they get to face Justine.

It is more interesting without the first two rounds; can you do it like that or would you have to go through everything again?

God you're pathetic. There's no conceivable reason to bring up Hingis in this thread. Perhaps you're insecure about something. :wavey:

you said we shouldn't, but I will say it anyway:
stupid stats, I'm sorry

the determining players shouldn't be the low-ranked ones, but the high-ranked opponents!
you only have to face 1 player being WTA-798 or so, and you will end with an "average ranking" above the 100. so it doesn't matter if one faces n1, n2, n3, n23, ... in the following rounds, they will make very little difference

a better thing should be to count like this, I'll give an example
say someone beated WTA-2, WTA-5, WTA-12, WTA-34, WTA-89, WTA-54 and WTA-101
say x = 1/2 + 1/5 + 1/12 + 1/34 + 1/89 + 1/54 + 1/101
this coefficient says a lot more imo, because here, the stronger opponents are determining

I'm sure you have an excuse for every one of her losses at the French Open. Truth is she was in inferior player to Steffi Graf

Check out my avatar, Martina looks so content.

agree...
a player could have played
r1- wc 1000
R2- 150
r3- 60
r4-5
qf-3
sf-2
f- 1
thats 203.5...

i think u made a mistake:

No, I don't, but anyone who has seen that final would know Martina lost because of herself. She led by a set and and a break, got really pissed off about a line call and stupidly got broke back. She then broke to serve for the match and made 3 unforced errors when serving for the match- yeah, Martina did mess that match up for herself.

She beat Kuznetsova, Davenport and Clijsters (all Slam Champions) to win the Slam, that's just fine and not any easier than what e.g. my favorite player Venus had to beat to win her last Wimbledon title IMO. :wavey: :)

this really doesnt prove much though, cause Clearly Sharapova had much tougher comp than Ivanovic and they're so close....then you include floaters... I dont know interesting though... while some had super easy draws compared they're still not that bad....

also noteworthy is on paper Venus' 05 Wimbledon appears to be the "easiest" one she won, but IMO it was the hardest and the most well earned....
