Craiova (/kra'jo.va/) is a Romanian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romania) city, the capital of the county of Dolj (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolj_County), situated near the East bank of the river Jiu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiu) in central Oltenia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oltenia). It is a long time political center, and is located at approximately equal distances from the Southern Carpathians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Carpathians) (north) and the Danube (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danube) (south). Craiova is the chief commercial city west of Bucharest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucharest).
Craiova, which occupied the site of the Dacian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dacia) and Roman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Dacia) city Pelendava, was formerly the capital of Oltenia. Its ancient bans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ban_%28title%29), the highest ranking boyars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyars) of the Wallachian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallachia) state, initially those of the Craioveşti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craiove%C5%9Fti) family. The bans had the right of minting coins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mint_%28coin%29) stamped with their own effigies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effigy) - the origin of the Romanian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_language) word ban (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_leu) as used for coins.
In 1395 Craiova was probably the scene of a victory won by the Wallachian Prince (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rulers_of_Wallachia)Mircea I of Wallachia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mircea_I_of_Wallachia) over Bayezid I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayezid_I), Sultan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottoman_Dynasty) of the Ottomans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottoman_Empire) (see Battle of Rovine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Rovine)).
Frequently referred to as "a city" after the first half of the 16th century, the Craiova area was always regarded as an important economic region of Wallachia and Romania at large. During the 1718-1737 Habsburg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habsburg_Monarchy) occupation of Oltenia, Craiova's status declined due to economic pressures and increased centralism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralized_government), partly leading to an increase in hajduk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hajduk) actions, in parallel with protests of Craiovan boyars. In 1761, under Prince Constantine Mavrocordatos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantine_Mavrocordatos), the bans relocated to Bucharest, leaving behind kaymakams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaymakam) to represent them in Craiova
The municipality of Craiova has a population of 302,601 (Census 2002

Tokyo (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cf/Ja-Tokyo.ogg)(東京, Tōkyō? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Japanese), literally "Eastern capital") is a unique subnational administrative region (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_Japan) of Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan) with characteristics of both a prefecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prefectures_of_Japan) and a city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cities_of_Japan). It is the de facto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_facto) capital of Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_of_Japan),[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo#_note-capital) the most populous subnational entity and city in the country, and the center of the most populous metropolitan area in the world (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_metropolitan_areas_by_population) with a population of over 35 million people in the Greater Tokyo Area (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Tokyo_Area)[2] (http://esa.un.org/unup/). Tokyo is the seat of the Japanese government (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_Japan) and the Imperial Palace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokyo), and the home of the Japanese Imperial Family (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Household_of_Japan). The twenty-three special wards of Tokyo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_wards_of_Tokyo), although each administratively a city in its own right, comprise the area informally considered as the "city of Tokyo" and are collectively one of the largest cities in the world with a total population of over 8 million people.[3] (http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/bigcities.htm) Tokyo has the largest metropolitan gross domestic product (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gross_domestic_product) in the world for a city, and it held the title of the world's most expensive city for over a decade from 1992 through 2005.[4] (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/4669400.stm)
Prior to 1943, Tokyo was the name of both one of the 47 prefectures of Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prefectures_of_Japan), Tokyo-fu, and the populous city of Tokyo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_City) in the eastern half of the prefecture. In 1943 the city and prefecture were merged into a unique prefecture-level government entity, known as Tōkyō-to 東京都 or "Tokyo Metropolis". This administrative region includes the twenty-three "special wards" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_wards_of_Tokyo) of the former city, many suburban cities in the western half of the prefecture, and two chains of islands extending south into the Pacific Ocean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Ocean).

Gurgaon (Hindi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindi): गुड़गांव) is the sixth largest city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City) in the Indian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India)state (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_state) of Haryana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haryana). According to 2001 India census, Gurgaon has a population of 228,820.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurgaon#cite_note-0) Gurgaon has grown extensively during the last decade due to its proximity to Delhi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delhi) and emergence as a major outsourcing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outsourcing) destination and real estate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_estate) market in northern India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_India).
An important town in ancient Hindu mythology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_mythology), Gurgaon is one of Delhi's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delhi) four major satellite cities (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_cities) and is therefore considered to be a part of the National Capital Region of India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Capital_Region_%28India%29). Over the past few years the city has grown tremendously as an outsourcing destination within India and has also witnessed a big real estate boom. It has also become the poshest area of Delhi with numerous Villas and condominiums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condominium) and many a malls with multinational brands. Burdened under this rapid development are the civic services of the city and in some ways, Gurgaon has become a set of contradictions.
