I can imagine the rest of the field sees a golden opportunity. I would also be so happy if Sveta won her second slam, but surely at the point dinara and jelena would be the firm favourites.

I can't believe that Sveta will win it. Maybe she won't even survive today.
Also a big chance that we get a NEW number 1. For Jelena, Ana and Sveta a final is enough to overtake Maria.

YAY SVETA! Hope she gets the recognition she deserves!

In one sense it's sad to see the BIG names bow out earlier even if i didn't want them to actually win. Still it'll be nice to see a new winner (or Sveta). Actually i'd love it if Jelena or Sveta one, wouldn't mind Elena and i guess Ana or maybe Dinara wouldn't be so bad either.

If Sveta loses today... imagine a QF without a Slam winner :tape:

As long as Ana, Sveta, or Dinara wins this title, all is well :)

Anyone but Jelena and I will be happy. I like Jelena but I think winning a slam will give her a false sense of security that she does not have to work on that shitty serve plus learn to hit some damn winners instead of sitting back and waiting for errors.

 i knew this RG would be the upside down slam. it's 2004 RG all over again.

I have to say I am surprised to see Sveta as the last grand slam winner left in the draw (assuming she makes the quarters she'll have went the furthest). I would have expected Serena and Maria to at least make it as far as her. Then again, given her record at the French it isn't a huge surprise I suppose.

It is 2004 all over again. What is it with Olympic years? :)

Sveta - she seems over the past 2 years to have forgotten she was a slam winner - she's always the also-ran these days. I'd like her to get it this year but her losing record in finals is a major barrier.

Oh please, RG-2004 had 3 Slam winners in QFs (Serena, Venus, Capriati) including 2 former RG champions

Seems like it. Hope Dementieva senses this and miraculously wins it all.

Time for Elena to win her first slam. That would be sweet.

With all this 2004 talk it looks like the gods of fate are leaningf towards Dementieva having a major beatdown in the final - and of the players left, its Jankovic who knows how to do just that! :-P

It is 2004 all over again.

Myskina was first from Russia to win a slam. RG 2004
Now RG 2008. A first Serbian to win a slam?
After that Maria and Sveta won their first slam.

So the next 3 slams will be won by 3 different Serbians.

wow! i dont know who to root for!!! sveta, winning her second slam, finally fulfilling her potential on clay, ana and jelena, winning their first slam and new number 1, elena d and patty, both players i really like who have never lived up to their slam winning potential or dinara, playing awesomely and just beat the world number 1 saving match point, in the form of her life... who to choose?!!

as long as the champion comes from the top half it's fine with me ;)

Lena, Sveta, Dinara or Vika would be great :D

Ana & Jelena are the only top 3 players left  Just cos Sveta is a GS champ doesn't make her the fave.

Hopefully it's a Lena vs Ana final!
