So RG is the hardest Slam to win :)

I could say now why some certain players have never won RG but I resist

nice try matt the troll. But actually it shows what everyone knows. MOST dont know how to play on clay....so the GS champions are easier to beat there....

I was discussing this very issue in a thread earlier and I hope the winner of RG beats Sharapova, Kuznetsova or both of them.

great stats for justine and serena :worship:

it is great to know that justine won 3 GS beating 3 or more GS winners, and some people kept attacking her before for not beating tough opponents in some of her Major wins lolz....

. RU by default? Do you mean Sveta at USO? She beat 6 players on route to the final like Sharapova, Ivanovic, and Bartoli at the other Slams. or other Slam RU's every years.

The last player who won a GS title without defeating a GS champion was Martina Hingis at Wimbledon-1997:

This can very well happen again at Roland Garros-2008 -- Sharapova and Kuznetsova both can fall in the 4th round and their conquerors are likely to lose before the final or in the final to Ivanovic/Jankovic.

If this actually happens it will be the first time since Australian Open-1979 that a player wins her first GS title without defeating a GS champion.

Safina has her job done. Now it's Azarenka's turn.

Moreover, it's the first time in 29 years that a player wins a GS title without facing a GS finalist en route.

Nice stats, although it really is up to the luck of the draw. The GS champs may have been beaten by other non-GS winners. But come to think of it...... Ana's draw was quite cake-walkerish!

Very interesting, but there were only 5players in the draw who had won GrandSlams..Last couple of years we've had a few retirements...
I wonder how many GS champions were in the 1997 draw?

it means that there is a changing of the guard, as there was back in the late 1990s.

and the new campaigners include your gal; so don't be too bitter about today.
