Is'nt her boyfriend a brasilian ? she has to be there ! She certainly knows why she is playing that much, she does not look stupid, and does not sound so in her interviews. Leave her alone ! she will stop when she feels the need to do so.

Jelena was down 4-1 in the second and Myrium had a set point in the first at 5-4 ... so Jelena did very well to close it out. Apparentlly her game was full of errors and alot of winners, she said that she found it tough and didn't play that well, but at 4-1 down Jelena played great tennis and some magnificent shots to win the match.

Dokic Struggles, but defeats the Young Swiss Favourite after a second set scare!
Dokic struggles and now faces Coetzer in the Quarters!
Coast of Sauípe (BA) - The No.4 ranked player in the world, and runner up at last years tournament, Jelena Dokic, played far from her best tennis and needed to work up a sweat in order to advance at the Brazil Open. On Wednesday night Swiss Player Myrium Casanova, Champion of the Bowl Banana of this year, was defeated 7/6 (7/3) 6/4. In the Quarter-Finals, to be played on Thursday, Dokic faces South African, Amanda Coetzer, who eliminated the Frenchwoman Nathalie Dechy, seeded 7th, 6/2, 3/6 6/3.
Dokic played a match filled with errors. She played many powerful shots filled with risk and danger. The first set was headed for a tie-break with each player holding serve easily, to the exception of the ninth game, where Casanova had one set point which Dokic saved. In the next set, the powerful shots of the Swiss player had started to unravel and Casanova oopened up a 4/1 lead. It was only then that Dokic seemed to enter the game, playing flawless tennis to take the match.
"It was a very difficult match", admitted the girlfriend of Formula 1 racer Enrique Bernoldi. "I did not play well at crucial moments it was difficult to adapt to the style of game Casanova plays."
Although taking 2 titles this year, and reaching another three Finals and four, Dokic has run into many injuries resulting in 5 withdrawels, one being in the Final of the Open Gaz de France. "I suffered an injury to my leg, and I found it difficult to train, but it happened four months ago and now I do not feel it anymore," explained Dokic.
The 19 year old, Yugoslav, feels that her game has developed over the last year, "I am more consistent each time I step on court." Her best performance in a grand slam this year came at Roland Garros, where she reached the round of 8.

Dokic will meet Myskina, Seles plays Daniilidou in the semifinals
Costa do Sauípe - Top seed Jelena Dokic was two games short of losing her quarterfinal match against south-african Amanda Coetzer, but recovered in time and, in another close call, advanced to her 10th semifinal in 2002, with 6/2, 5/7, 6/4. The opponent in the semifinals will be Russian Anastasia Myskina.
In the other semifinal match, defending champion Monica Seles will meet greek Eleni Daniilidou. Seles had no trouble to beat Henrieta Nagyova, 6/0, 6/4, meanwhile Daniilidou defeated seed number 8 Nathalie Dechy of France, 2/6, 6/2, 6/4.
Dokic was as irregular as in her opening match. She commanded the first set with powerful ground strokes, and maintained the lead in the second until 5/3 and serve, when the world number 4 lost her concentration. "It was a tough moment. I didn't played very well, and she took advantage of this", said Dokic.
Coetzer, chasing every ball and sending Dokic bouncing in the court, opened a confortable 4/2 lead in the third set, but then it was her time to lose the concentration. In two double-faults she gave the advantage away, and Dokic closed the set in 6/4.
"I really lacked concentration today. I just entered the match in the final half of the third set, but one more time I won the mental game", said the Yugoslavian.
It will be the fifth match between Dokic and Myskina, and Dokic leads 3-2. "Her game suits me. It will be a good match", said Dokic.
