Legend! GOAT! Whatever you want to call it. So happy right now. :sobbing: Against Kanepi, possibly a QF in her first Slam.

Expected result. I thought Kvitova would win in two sets, but Szavay really put up a fight. Great win! Petra has been playing great tennis throughout the entire tournament. Her serve is strong, and her ground strokes are so powerful.

great tennis Petra!! I have a feeling Agnes will say 'good bye' to top 25 after she loses all the points she has to defend this fall :(

Agi with a major chokejob in the first set. Served for it and had 5-1 in the tiebreak. Her year continues to suck.

Great win for Kvitova, even if Szavay totally blew it in the first set. I wish Agnes would get her act together, and quickly. After Wimbledon she has a ton of points to defend...

I really think Kvitova is going to be a top player in the future.

More like since forever, at least they didn't get them right last year either if I am not mistaken.

Petra was lucky to win this. I don't know how Szavay lost the tiebreak in first set from being 5-1 up, Petra played some good points but this is not a lead to lose from. In 2nd set Petra was totally hopeless on return, even 2nd serves she was missing by meters. 4 times she barely managed to hold her serve to lose 4-6 in the end, it continued like that at the start of the decider when Szavay led 1-0 and had 40-0 on Kvitova's serve, my livestream crashed at that time () and came back when Petra had an advantage, she held after a couple of deuces. This was a key game of the match. Momentum shifted on Petra's side, she started returning better again, and that was it.

She needs to improve her serve to become a bigger threat though, it's mediocre considering her height and how hard she hits the ball.
Now make the QF's. :)

Where did you get these stats from?

I can confirm TheBoiledEgg's stats. I was watching it on eurosport player and Petra hit loads of winners. I even think that some of Agnes' 38UEs have been forced because of the flat hitting of Petra.

Petra was just so strong, after she lost the second set and was down 0-1 with 3 BPs I thought she had lost the fighting spirit. But she just kept hitting winner after winner and found a way to overcome Agnes.

This afternoon I told my brother to put 200 bucks on Petra and he gets 540 back now:angel:

I don't think you can say one who hits 40-something winners to win a match lucky, especially when her opponent only manages to produce 15 winners AND 30-something UEs.

Why not? She was 1-5 down in the tiebreak and 0-40 down in her first service game of the third set - Agnes was the better player at that time and had she broken Petra she would have won imo.

Have you seen the match? It was close, but Agi had the opportunity to 1. close it in straights, 2. take a lead in the 3rd. I'm disappointed because Agi blew her chances, but to say the truth, I can't be mad on her. Kvitova played very well, and sometimes, at some key points, she put the ball right on the line while Agi hit it a few cm-s wide. That can happen, even if you play well (Agi played quite well imo).

So all credits goes to Kvitova, who could take her chances, win those key points, and reach the 4th round at her very first grand slam. She will be an excellent player even if I think a good Kuznetsova will take the wind out of her sail now. A good Kuznetsova...

I really wanted to see some of this match (seems like it was quite a match too, going by those stats  ) - Szávay is one of my favourites and I'd really like to see Kvitova play (I'm guessing it won't be too long with her current form... :) ).

Congratulations to Petra! What a tournament she is having, and this is her first Slam!! Better luck for next tournament Ági! (Maybe I will see Ági at Wimbledon, and she will win? Aaah... ;) )

Oh Agi... Not a good year so far. Though not as horrible as the haters say. Stick with it and your form will rise again.

Keep it up Kvitova! She and Suarez-Navarro are keeping the tournament exciting. I want to see more than assorted YouTube clips of Petra.

Kvitova is another Olaru. she will reach the quarters and fall like autumn leave in the next RG.

Olaru had a bad injury and is still getting back into the groove of things.

And she beat Vakulenko in R1. That's just as good as beating Agnes these days.

Hope for a good match between Kanepi and Kvitova. If they both play well, it'll be a fun match of hard hitting. :)
