I hope Jelena can go far here. Many Top 100 players, and the likes of Bovina, Karatantcheva and Lucic in Quallies.

I was under the impression that the MD was a 32-player-draw? The ITF site only has 13 players in the MD directly  It's changed I'm sure..it wasn't always like that

Good draw. Even when she was sucking of ass back in 2003, she still was able to beat Gagliardi handily in two slams that year. I'm more worried about her opening match since she hasn't played for a while. Quarterfinals is a very realistic shot for Jelena, anything better than that would be just gravy. Ajde Jelena !

She was DBed in semis.. I believe she was tired, she just came back after long break and played 2 very close 3-setters. Week before that she beat Rodionova and took Govortsova to a TB. Jelena had a very poor start in tournaments she won, so Nathalie is definitely a very tough opponent, she's much better than Giorgi and Cravero.

Hmmm. Im looking at the draw and Jelena could easily make the quarters the way she has been playing lately, then probably Garbin or Cravero who would both be challenging, but not unbeatable - Tathiana is still not back to her best after her injury. Meusburger would be a good match for the final, but I dont think she'll get there with this draw. Jelena could realistically win this whole thing, just have to keep thinking happy thoughts :bounce:

Good win Jelena. A bad start, but we're all used to that from you now and then, and good way to fight back.

Fantastic to see that interview :hearts: She looks SOOO fit! Good to hear from her about her plans and all that - it's weird she didn't mention Wimbledon though. I hope she's still planning on using a WC there.

Her Qtr Final is, I think, very winnable against Kostanic-Tosic. She does have a career high ranking of #32 back in 2004, so she's obviously dangerous, but her ranking now sits at #151, and has done for a whiel. She also hasn't beaten a Top 100 player this year, and her worst losses this year are to Duque Marino (#198), Woerle (#179) and Cohen Aloro (#107) - all on clay. Acually looking at her activity makes me feel a bit better about this match up  Good chance for Jelena to get some more valuable points, and would be great to see her take on Garbin in the semi :)

#151, but she was ranked as high as #32 in 2004. So yes, she's considerably good, compared to the rest of Jelena's competition over the last few weeks.

Garbin will be an interesting matchup, she's like a better version of Kostanic. Jelena will need to bring the heat, and consistently.

No mention of Wimbledon? Please play there, Jelena. Surely she would if they offer her a WC of any sort.

Good luck against Garbin, will be tough. But she is low on confidence right now, if Erakovic can beat her on clay I'm sure Jelena can too :D

Wow well done to get so far in a 75K tour Jelena!!
Playing Tax is a good test like the match against Baczinksy, but with more potential!!
the reason that you lost against Timea is cuz your serve wasn't steady so if you show improvement there today you have a better chance of winning this match.
It's already great to see you reach the SF here and let's hope that you can make it to the Wimbledon qualy draw.

The retirement isn't so awful to me because it makes me think she wants to be as healthy as possible for Wimbledon and not risk further injury. I think if Wimbledon wasn't coming up she probably would have tried to just finish the match and see what happens. We can only hope it's not serious.

Anyway, nice week for Jelena despite a sad ending. I'm sensing a withdrawal from Campobasso though.

Shame she had to retire seeing as though she was holding her own in the 2nd. Hopefully it's just a precaution to make sure she doesn't have to take an extended period of time off. I really hope she plays Wimbledon.

Reports say Dokic had a leg injury (whatever that means...) and that before the match she was advised not to play at all.

Someone posted that in the challenger forum.

Ok, I found it now :

RIM, ITALIJA (ITF, 75 000 USD)

Jelena Dokić zbog ozljede noge morala predati susret 1. nositeljici. Iako je i prije susreta bilo preporuka da uopće ne izađe na teren, Dokićeva je odlučila igrati, ali je pri 3:4 u 2. setu liječnik preporučio da stane.

It's true, they advised her not to play at all but she wanted to. Then during a match she took a medical time out and a doctor advised her to retire.

Jelena :awww:  Hope she is fine for Wimbledon and w/d's from 25k upcoming event in Italy.
