After stumbling past Rodina and Mattek, Sharapova will now take on Knapp. I've never seen Knapp play, so could someone describe her game and her chances against Sharapova?

I realize Sharapova isn't playing well right now, but she's still winning her matches.

From memory I think pretty solid on both sides but her backhand is the more reliable side.

i saw her play agaisnt justine.. she didnt play well, justine played poorly and won the match easily.. so sharapova should win comfortably, but it wouldnt suprise me if it goes to 3 sets!!

she has a good serve, FH and volleys

her BH and movement are her weaknesses

Likes clay. Nearly beat Patty in the third round last year, who then went 9-7 in the third with maria... not that that works for clay. Good forehand.

She is a tad overweight and will be no match for Maria.

Well if Pova is going to play like she has been and lose a set.

In the third Knapp will be a bit stronger than Mattek.

But with this pissy draw of Pova's she isn't losing before R4.

She played well to get to the Antwerp final this year (though the draw was :o:o) but didnt do much against Henin in the final.
Pova should win but  you never know

Don't count Zheng out against Safina so fast.......... could be vs. Zheng in next round.

watched a few points of her against sanchez.
she had a pretty good forehand which left sanchez stranded a lot of times

She has solid groundstrokes, good serve, and quite willing to come up to the net. Struggles with the body serve on return.

Knapp is a ball basher who needs to get in better shape. She is unusual in the fact she is an Italian player who probably plays better on hard courts and faster surfaces.

But who knows if she is on she could be very dangerous to Maria.

She will not only own Sharapova from the ground, but also in the looks department.

The short answer is: with Sharapova's present form any player ranked 200 or less has a chance against current #1.

Well let's just see what happens. I believe that Maria will start finding her game today. So I think it will be a 2 set victory for Maria.

She's been in a slump since that final in Antwerp. I'm surprised she's won a couple of matches at this tournament. Knapp is a good player, but she doesn't have any one huge weapon to hurt the big guns with.

If Sharapova plays like she has in the 1st and 2nd rounds, Karin definitely has a chance. She's wayyy better than Rodina & Mattek. But Maria will raise her level and win.
