View Full Version : Ranking breakdown Tsveti

May 21st, 2008, 01:52 PM
Tsveti currently has 579 points.
These are constituted from the points gathered at the 5 mandatory tournaments (Slams+Miami) and then the 12 best results from other tournaments, WTA or ITF.

Here's Tsvetana's situation:

Roland Garros 2007 2
Wimbledon 2007 2
US Open 2007 91
Austr. Open 2008 60
Miami (mand.) 2008 1

156 points for these with definitive room for improvement, especially in RG and Wimbledon. A 2nd round in both would win her 116 points.

The best 12 of the other tournaments :

Rome 2008 125
ITF-2007-Bordeaux-20070916 2007 75
Stockholm 2007 50
Antwerp 2008 50
Indian Wells 2008 25
Istanbul 2007 20
ITF-2007-Biella-20070715 2007 18
Estoril 2008 15
Prague 2008 15
Birmingham 2007 10
Sydney 2008 10
Berlin 2008 10

423 points here for a total of 579. (Note what a big deal Rome was :D)

For the record, the tournaments that don't count in the ranking at the moment:

ITF-2007-Bratislava II-20071028 2007 10
ITF-2007-Poitiers-20071125 2007 9
Eastbourne 2007 5
Luxembourg 2007 5
Stuttgart 2007 5
Paris 2008 5
Palermo 2007 1

You can use this to see what effect the results in the current tournament has on her ranking. For instance, she now has 35 points in Istanbul (though I expect more to come ;)) so that would gain her 15 points in the ranking (35 minus the 20 she had from 2007 and which are in her best 12). That would put her at a total of 594.
But, as I said, i'm expecting more to come in Istanbul. :lick:

634 points and 5 places up for now. A final would be 2 more places and a win yet another 3.

Too bad she lost against Radwanska but still a good run here.

The new situation:

Roland Garros 2007 2
Wimbledon 2007 2
US Open 2007 91
Austr. Open 2008 60
Miami (mand.) 2008 1

The best 12 of the other tournaments :

Rome 2008 125
ITF-2007-Bordeaux-20070916 2007 75
Istanbul 2008 65
Stockholm 2007 50
Antwerp 2008 50
Indian Wells 2008 25
ITF-2007-Biella-20070715 2007 18
Estoril 2008 15
Prague 2008 15
Birmingham 2007 10
Sydney 2008 10
Berlin 2008 10

468 points here for a total of 624 (I made a mistake with 634 in an earlier post, so she'll move up to the 43rd spot instead of the 42nd :tape:)

For the record, the tournaments that don't count in the ranking at the moment:

ITF-2007-Bratislava II-20071028 2007 10
ITF-2007-Poitiers-20071125 2007 9

The new situation, at 682 points :

Roland Garros 2008 60
Wimbledon 2007 2
US Open 2007 91
Austr. Open 2008 60
Miami (mand.) 2008 1
------------------------------------------

ITF-2007-Bordeaux-20070916 2007 75

Antwerp 2008 50
Indian Wells 2008 25
ITF-2007-Biella-20070715 2007 18
Estoril 2008 15
Prague 2008 15
Birmingham 2007 10
Sydney 2008 10
Berlin 2008 10

(the tournaments that aren't in the ranking haven't changed).

Most likely she'll be at 39 in the ranking after RG. That's the third career best improvement in a row I think. :bounce:

Since Tsvetana doesn't play this week, next week's ranking breakdown can already be established :
She remains at 682 points. Birmingham 2007 (10pts) comes off but she had a spare tourny with 10 points (ITF Bratislava) so the total remains the same.
She'll remain 40th unless Dellacqua makes the SF or better in Birmingham.

Despite the unlucky draw in the MD, the good run in the qualies still gives a small bonus in the ranking. The new total is 687, an increase of 5.
It's possible she'll remain 40th, but there are a number of girls that might overtake her, esp. Dulko (needs QF) and Na Li (needs SF).

Just replace Palermo-2007-1 with Portoroz-2008-1 in the other tournaments above and there you go.

Next to come off is Stockholm, and that's a big deal with 50 points. Sure hopes she finds her form back one of these days.

The Brisbane points, viz. 30, came off this week, only replaced by the 6 from Linz 2009, resulting in a drop of 24 points which just keeps her in the Top 100, but only barely. And the coming week, the Hobart points go with only 1 point from the qualies to replace it with which means goodbye to the Top 100 for at least a fortnight. She'll need at least a third round at the AO to turn things around, point-wise that is.

...and she got to a slam SF

I've read that her ranking might be up to around 35?. Big chance to be seeded for USO.

This is total of 1690 points. After Errani lost today from Kanepi in Palermo and didn't defend her points from last years final and Tsveti will have a new carrer high on Monday of #34. She'll need good results in Istanbul and Copenhagen to be seeded in USO. She can totally do it.

This is total of 1690 points. No change in points because Tsveti didn't play any tournaments this week and she didn't have any points to defend. On Monday Tsveti will have a new career high of #33 and will be ahead of Safina because the russian will lose her points from her Portoroz title last year. If she keeps this place Tsveti will be seeded in USO but she really needs some good results in Istanbul and Copenhagen to consolidate that position. Good luck. :)

Tsveti will keep her 33rd place next week with 1712 points. If she had at least reached the QFs she would of been 32nd ahead of Schvedova but she really don't help herself a lot with those two last tournaments. Kanepi is a big danger trailing with 100 points which she can totally win and make Tsveti not seeded at the USO. She really needs very good performance at Copenhagen but with this form I don't see it happen. And she won't play anything else till New Haven so this will be the tournament that will determine her final points for the ranking seeds at the USO. I so hope that she will find her form next week.

Assuming Pironkova won't play any more tourneys that would affect her ranking for USO, do you think she still could get a seed there? If she were to stay at #33, surely there's a few players above her that aren't playing.

Well at least Kanepi won't be picking up any points in Cincinnati as she was ousted in the first round of qualifiers.

This is Tsveti's 2010 season in tournaments and points gained from them!!! She will most probably end the season 34th or 35th depending on what Kvitova does this week in Poitiers, France. She has 1722 points and more then a half them is of course from her astonishing run in Wimbledon where she reached the semifinals. Aside from it she really didn't do something a lot but that was her best season so far in her career. Hopefully next year she will be back more powerful, with a better forehand and ready for new battles. Good Luck Tsveti!!! :)
