Anne should win. Bally has a tough one, but she could pull through. Expecting Katie to beat Mel and Naomi will have to work hard against Vogele. Good luck girls! Can't believe they start at 9.00am in Paris

May 20th, 2008, 08:06 PM
Go Girls :rocker2:

I know, soo early - my lie-in gets abandoned  But its worth it.

If ever there was a time to qualify, I think it would be now while excitement and hope is bound to be high!

Alex Bogdanovic (GBR)
def Mathieu Rodrigues 6-0 6-3. Great start for the Brits :D

(10)K.O'Brien def. M.South 7-5 6-1

Only one ace hit, which was beautifull delivered by Katiepegs. 4 doubles as well, but hey, could have been worse. As far as winners and unforced errors are concerned, it says Katie hit 1 winner and 4 errors, Mel 0 winners and 2 doubles... :p

Naomi's score stuck at 36 10 40-ad*

Bally hit the only double fault. No aces for either player either. The second set was much closer on the stats, but Lyubtsova just won more points behind her serve. Good to see Bally make the second set competitive rather than just gift it away. Hopefully she is healthy and can get back on track on the grass

Scores in the Cavaday game going crazy. At one point she'd won the set but now it's 5-5.

Hopefully Anne can pull it off later too.

At least Maret Ani has the honour of being the highest seeded player to lose. 20 seeds have played so far today, only 8 have progressed, including a certain Miss O'Brien

Both Naomi and Anne had a low percentage of points won behind their second serves, an obvious area of weakness for both girls

May 21st, 2008, 01:51 PM
Very depressing loss for Anne , and the manner of the loss suggests the problems may be in the head, she had game points or break points in over half the games she lost. :help:

Looks like her venture into the top 100 may be a short one unless she can improve her mental toughness under pressure.

May 21st, 2008, 03:41 PM
utter crap today

May 21st, 2008, 10:11 PM
:fiery::mad: at draw, now for the grass Melanie

May 22nd, 2008, 10:18 AM
Fight Katiepegs! :bounce: 46 24 right now.

May 22nd, 2008, 10:28 AM

6-4 6-2  Had two break points for 3-1 in the second set. Only won 30% of points behind her second serve and made 1 out of 5 break chances. Add in the fact that Barrois hit 9 aces, it just goes to show how Katie really needs to beef her serve up. Only 4 doubles for her, which is pretty good going. More ranking points on the board and hopefully move up a few spots in the rankings

May 22nd, 2008, 06:20 PM
All girls out  hoping for someone to breakthrough into the main draw, but not to be
hopefully some home crowd support is all they need and they will all be making big steps forward come Wimbledon
