Not a strong line-up. Where is Ashley?

A cyst on her ovary burst so she needed emergency surgery, won't be back until Prague.

why would davenport play if theres no second player to back her up. she would be needlessly risking injury in a tie she cant win by herself. plus i'd rather davenport played the french on clay than fed cup.

Current choices are better these than the bolded ones, especially Tu and Granville, they cant win a match. :o

For organizer's sakes, I hope tickets are not allowed to be returned. :haha:

The only reason Russians would be interested to come see this tie if Huber promises to repeat her Wimbledon performance and yell at someone... Too bad Petrova is not playing. Maybe at Anna C.?

But they are ranked higher than the other girls... At least they are in the top 100.

It'll be good experience for Madison Brengel. Its time for her to start breaking through if she will.

Funny thing is that one of them, likely King, can take one point off Russia by beating Chakvetadze. She has a decent chance imo. It won't matter in the end but still, winning a match in Russia with this line-up would be a huge accomplishment.

:spit:

Not a singles player in the top 100 and they think they can beat Kuznetsova, Chakvetadze, Safina and Vesnina, all inside the top 50?

Hmmm.

exactly, you saw what happened when venus tried to do it last year...

Sammy I'm pretty sure the French open is not in Lindsay's plans but she has said she might enter Rome and if she does I could see her playing the friench I personally hope she doesn't as the time would be put to better use training for Wimbledon.

what i meant was if she was gonna play matches on red clay i'd rather she played the french open than played a 1 woman team fed cup tie. if shes gonna risk injury then it might as well be at a slam not at a fed cup tie she cant win.

as for davenport playing the french i think she would be stupid not to, she will have 2 weeks to train on grass before wimbledon (and play matches at eastbourne). plus she needs the ranking points to get a top 16 seeding at wimbledon. if she played rome and the french shes got a shot at getting that seeding.

Very smart move by Lindsay, it would be stupid for her to play Fed Cup, since she´s already done a lot of the US!

Yeah. It's just pointless playing for the team if there's no other "good" player to back you up.

Good decision Lindsay!:yeah:

Yet, despite what Venus has done for the US
w/o other big names, she got slammed by some
for not playing this tie? hmmm....
