Kim plays there (I though she wouldn't but she is in the draw)

If the rankings are respected, here are the potential matchs :

Kim is seeded 5

1 R Kim received a bye
2 R Kim against Paola Suarez (or Srebotnik)
3 R Kim against Magdalena Maleeva
QF Kim against Jelena Dokic

I hope Kim will go to the quaters to take her revenge on Jelena who took her 5th spot!!! LOL

Aug 3rd, 2002, 11:27 AM
Does this tournament start next week?

Aug 3rd, 2002, 12:00 PM
yep, it's starts monday...

the best of luck to our kimmie! komaan, meisje!!!

Aug 3rd, 2002, 05:42 PM
are the two black beists their too , cause i wanne see kim beat the hell out of the fookin williams sisters

Aug 3rd, 2002, 05:43 PM
beasts , sorry

Aug 3rd, 2002, 06:33 PM
Good luck in LA, Kim! :bounce:
I like this draw better than last week's! I hope she reaches the quarters and beats Jelena there! Than a semi against Serena is possible!

You can beat them all, Kim! I'm sure of that!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Aug 3rd, 2002, 07:43 PM
Com'on Kim! You'll do fine! She really played a good match against Venus last! :) :D

Aug 3rd, 2002, 08:52 PM
I think she can really do something at the us open!!!
The way she is playing right now, it gives me hope...

:bounce: :bounce: C'mon Kim!!!:bounce: :bounce:

Aug 3rd, 2002, 08:55 PM
How did Kim do here last year? Does she have a lot of points to defend?? I hope she can have a good showing here and at all her tournaments before the US Open so she can hopefully get a top four seed there :D

Aug 3rd, 2002, 09:04 PM
Last year she reached the quarterfinals: Kim-Venus I thought the results were 6/3 6/1

:bounce: :bounce: C'mon Kim!!!:bounce: :bounce:

Aug 3rd, 2002, 09:09 PM
So she doesn't have many points to gain then :( Ugh I really want her to get a top four seed for the U.S Open!!

Aug 3rd, 2002, 09:43 PM
Kim lost in the quaters to Nathalie Tauziat 6-4 6-4 if I remember good. I'm sure it was Nat but not the scores

Aug 3rd, 2002, 10:11 PM
You're right Come-on-Kim! Nathalie Tauziat won with 6-4, 6-2, though.

If Kim is going to take points here, she needs to do better than last year, by all means.

Aug 3rd, 2002, 10:17 PM
Kim is drawn to meet Jelena in the quarters right?? :( Jelena must be playing well now seeing how she's in the Acura final

Aug 4th, 2002, 01:49 AM
...but then Jelena was in the easier end of the draw. Capriati is really the only player who was expected to be a tough opponent before the finals...and she was almost beaten by Kournikova in the semi finals

Aug 4th, 2002, 12:04 PM
So is there any way that she can get her ranking back this week then?

Aug 4th, 2002, 12:12 PM
I think it's already back to 6 because Justine hasn't been playing

Aug 4th, 2002, 12:13 PM

Now now, language ;)

God Luck, Kim

Aug 4th, 2002, 01:06 PM
i can't help it , i hate it when those two sisters win everything

Aug 4th, 2002, 01:27 PM
I think she will reach the QF but Jelena Dokic
is a verry dificult player.
Jelena and Kim played a lot of doubles matches in their
junior period so they know each others game.
Unfortunatly in San Diego they were kicked out in the first round
playing doubles for the first time since Leipzig last year where they reached SF.
Kim will have to play tacticaly well to make it inposible for Jelena to use her Baseline game.
Did you see the match in hamburg where Jelena had to give up
in the last set at 4-4 after Kim won the first set with the most
spectacular tennis ever seen?
In that match Kim always imidiatly turned her back to Jelena
after making a point in order to focus her concentration on the
next point. When Jelena Gave Up, Kim conforted Jelena.
It's going to be firework an Kim surely has a good chance to
defeat but jelena has as much chance to beat Kim. It's inposible to prededict.
So i think it's not an easy draw for KIM.

Aug 4th, 2002, 01:31 PM
Serena WXiliams will play next week but Venus will not!

Kevijntje, with all respect to your opinion re the Williamses, I feel I have to point out that we don't like to see that kind of language in here.

I'll clarify why:
we don't want this fan forum to get destroyed by people coming in here to post things, style General Messages, in reaction to what is posted here by Kim fans like yourself, thus causing Kim fans to defend themselves, and off we go... bybye our nice and interesting forum!

So I don't, and I stress this, DON'T want to hold this against you, but just want to show you, and all posters here, the bigger picture why your opinion is better not posted in such strong terms.

I am maybe too careful, but better safe than sorry.

I hope you will understand my point of view. And keep on posting please.

For the record, I am no Williams fan at all, to say the least.
And I simply hate it if they would take each and every trophy; it's going to kill tennis otherwise.

Aug 4th, 2002, 02:24 PM
Does anyone know Kim's record against Jelena?

As for the ranking..I'm not sure she can get it back. She's currently at 6th. However Monica is injured and has a good chance of losing her ranking to Jelena. So I guess it all depends on what happens at LA and in Montreal.

Aug 4th, 2002, 05:21 PM
Looking at the way Venus took care of Davenport, Kim must be playing really well these days if she can take Venus to a third set like she did at the Acura Classic. It looks like she's really peaking towards the US Open. :bounce: I'm hopeful; I have tickets to she semi-finals I am really hoping I'll get to watch her.

Aug 4th, 2002, 05:25 PM
does the LA tournament have a web site?

Aug 4th, 2002, 05:39 PM
Hi Pinkie :wavey:

Aug 4th, 2002, 08:54 PM
Hawk - Kim leads their h-2-h by 3-2, with the last victory coming when Jelena retired. If they do meet in the QF, I give the edge to Kim simply because I think Jelena will be worn out. She is in the finals this week with at least 2 of the matches going 3 sets. She will then have to win 2-3 matches to make the QF next week. Kim, meanwhile, will have a few days off because of her loss in the QF.

Aug 4th, 2002, 11:00 PM
Kim could just over-power her too...but then that didn't work for Capriati last week

Aug 5th, 2002, 01:26 PM
i think dokic is really confirming now , i always thought she could become a good player , i like to see her playing , but off course i wanne see kim winning , does anyone saw the dokic - capriati match ??? was it impressive or was jen cap not really fit ?

and btw kaseyl : you're totally right

Aug 5th, 2002, 03:33 PM
capriati played very well actually: that just shows how good dokic has become...

then again, kim's playing well too...

let's just all cross our fingers for kimmie... :bounce:

Aug 6th, 2002, 08:11 AM
Kim will play on the center court today. This is the second match on it!

The first one begins at 10:00 AM and it's : Sugiyama-Nagyova

Kim'll play against Katarina Srebotnik.

Srebotnik def. Paola Suarez 6-2 4-6 6-1 in the first round.

There's no head-to-head between Kim and Katarina (at least in professional)

Then, Kim'll play her doubles match on center court too. It's the fifth match of the day. (The third one begins only after 1:30 PM)

Aug 6th, 2002, 10:07 AM
I'm sure Kim and Srebotnik met in juniors. I think Kim lost.

Aug 6th, 2002, 11:16 AM
...but that was quite a few years ago

Aug 6th, 2002, 11:51 AM
When Kim reaches the level she had last week , Srebotnik can't be a big problem!!!

:bounce: :bounce: Good luck Kim!!!:bounce: :bounce:

Aug 6th, 2002, 01:18 PM

Aug 6th, 2002, 04:20 PM
COME ON KIM :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Aug 6th, 2002, 08:59 PM
Kimmie lost 4-6 6-2 4-6

I still can't believe it!!! She was playing so well lately!!!

Aug 6th, 2002, 09:00 PM

Aug 6th, 2002, 11:41 PM
Well she's still playing doubles. She just needs to play enough matches to keep her in good form for the US Open.

Aug 7th, 2002, 07:19 AM
  Kim lost to Katarina Srebotnik 6-4 2-6 6-4

Here's a quote from Kim : ``She played some good tennis,'' Clijsters said. ``She was good at the important moments. I played OK. I played some good rallies, but not at the important moments. I had some break points in the first set, and normally if I'm at my best I'll break her at least once, but I didn't today.''

So, is she still injured???

BTW, (WC) Kim and Jelena def. Grande/Tarabini 6-1 6-2
In the second round, they'll meet (1) Black/Likhovsteva or Lee/Prakusya

Aug 7th, 2002, 08:58 AM
Better next time!!!

:bounce: :bounce: C'mon Kim!!!:bounce: :bounce:

Aug 7th, 2002, 05:12 PM
Another quote from Kim :

"I've played a lot of matches lately and I think I'm getting a little bit tired," Clijsters said. "Of course, it's not nice to lose, but I think I need a few days off now to recover from everything.

"I had a few chances to break her in the first set and those are the points you have to make. But I didn't. She played some good tennis and played well at the important moments."

Aug 10th, 2002, 06:11 AM
Kim and Jelena won their doubles match against the first seeded team Black/Likhovsteva in straight sets 6-4 6-1!!!!

They'll play the last match on the center court this evening against Corina Morariu and Kimberly Po Messerli

Here's a pic of Kim :

Aug 11th, 2002, 05:12 AM
Kim looks so young in that pic!!

Aug 11th, 2002, 07:43 AM
Kim and Jelena defeated Kimberly Po-Messerli/Corina Morariu 6-3 4-6 6-4!!!

They'll play the final against Daniela Hantuchova/Ai Sugiyama!!

Aug 11th, 2002, 11:38 AM
Go kimmy and jelena!! If they lose its RT's fault!!:p

Aug 12th, 2002, 11:47 AM
Congrats to Kim and Jelena.

To bad - Lleyton lost so Kim saved somewhat their day I think. And thank you Kim for being around for Jelena after such disastrous SF. I hope they will kick some a** in Canada as well.
