For a top 16 seed, she got a very hard draw. I can't see her getting over Radwanska in the 3rd round.

how about Michelle Larcher de Brito?
Kadima Shahar :D please win it :scared:

LOL another jinx  Stunning upset of the steadiest teenager around
Larcher de Brito's results from the very few tournaments she has played seem to indicate she's a little more than "just another ballbasher". I just hope she'd tone down the grunting and we won't have another Sharapova, one is more than enough.

I think Shahar will win. Most of time after such a result (for the opponent) the intensity drops a little. The last example from Shahar's praxis was... Radwanska, after she ousted Sharapova in the US Open.

This will set up a 5th encounter vs Sveta (now that I've written this Vika's chances have improved considerably :p).

I think Shahar match up with Sveta better than Vika anyway. (Plus Sveta is not her BFF which is always good)

Shahar won 60 62 :yeah:. Never got broken, she totally thrashed Michelle in the first set but contrary to Katya & Aga, she managed to stay strong and stop Michelle's attempts to come back. I like this Shahar, I am really looking forward to see her 2006-2007 (till Miami) form, I hope this is finally her time.
Well done .

yay! I agree Iceland.

I think no 15 yo player should be better than shahar on decent form.
Kadima Shahar!! :D

Miami R4: Kuznetsova d. Peer 7-6(4) 6-3 (three in a row for Sveta after the upsets at AO and Miami '07)

Another "according to seed" tournament, and I guess we should thank MLDB for getting even that.
Again, it's not even a slump (other than Govortsova, all of her losses were to decent players), just the epitome of mediocrity, not exactly what we've grown to expect from her.

Of course this is disappointing, but I wouldn't go this far into the criticism. Let's see how she does on clay, her best surface. I really think she can do something big. What is sure is that she doesn't seem to have improved her game. Thanks God she still has the mental on her side.

Could have taken the first set! oh well...

Shahar is playing better, she got no points to defend and I know she can step it up.

I'm not sure about the mental side either.
last two years she made it a habit to come back aganst better seed player and win.
Something I didn't see this year

Excellent first set and more than likely some disappointment set in during the first part of the second set. It would have been nice to see her win from behind as we have seen in the past - but overall I think good job.

For the rest of the year she only has two tournaments where she has over 100 points to defend and one with over 75 points to defend. French Open 140/Wimb. 90/US Open 250.
She has 8 within the 35-70 range. This will be an EXCELLENT time for her to build on her ranking.

She is doing well in doubles also, and this will help her in singles.
She does not have to defend a lot of points the rest of the year. Good opportunity for her!

maybe the best thing for, because on the lack of needing to defend points ( which so of course lost in the last to tourneys), would be t focus more on raining her week sides= e.g 1 & 2 serves.

Her first serve is not the problem, it opens up the court well for her and she has high %.
The second serve is a problem though.

Who is next in the doubles? :D

Sorry to disagree.
Agreed to her percentage in putting the ball in, but she seldom gets easy points as
a result of it.
The second serve is the reason she gets broken that often.

Interesting that she didn't play in Charleston. Martinez is being honored there as well as many other winners from the past. However, I suppose she needs some rest and down time. Good luck in the upcoming tournaments.

Last year she lost in the first round in Charleston, so no points lost.
Let's hope we'll see some improvement in her game.

Shahar played very well, especially against Larcher de Brito.
I think she's getting her game back on track.
