WTA Tour to Live Stream Indian Well’s Final
Posted on Mar 20, 2008

The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s long awaited live streaming debut will take place on Sunday, March 23 at 3:00 PM ET with the 2008 Pacific Life Open women’s final.

Sunday’s final will be available for free on the internet at www.sonyericssonwtatour.com.

Because of licensing and television rights, Sunday’s final will not be streamed in the United States, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia.

Sony Ericsson WTA Tour CEO Larry Scott announced in November after the close of the Sony Ericsson Championships that the Tour would be entering the online playing field of match streaming in 2008.

“You are also going to see next year significant activities taking advantage of the emergence of digital technology and the internet,” said Scott.

“We are going to be taking our TV pictures and showing more highlights online next year. From each of our Tier I tournaments next year we’ll be live streaming the finals from those events.”

Finally, some good news regarding coverage of women's tennis. I just hope they'll have enough bandwidth to cope with the massive number of WTAWorld members who'll be swarming their server on Sunday. :)

Reporting from Toronto:

Watching the live feed right now and already have 2 complaints:

1, Grainy! Far inferior to the atpmastersseries.tv.

2, Squished horizontally. It looks like they are presenting a 16:9 (the common HD screen ratio) format into a 4:3 frame (non-HD ratio).

No interruption so far.

Mac user?

It's streaming with Windows Media. So, not supporting MAC just like atpmastersseries.tv.

You can install bootcamp on an intel mac.

Or easier way is to subscribe to RDS (the quebec TSN) right now.

If it's not working, check your version of Win Media.

Not much I can suggest as mine is streaming ok.

Or as I said, call your cable company and order the french TSN.

You know, this means TSN actually bought the broadcasting right of Indian Wells but chose not to broadcast it as the feed does not have any commentary..... (our good Quebec friends are actually producing their own commentary).

Will have to settle for SBS Sports, I guess.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's current. But I guess I'll just watch it on TVANTS for now.

I was impressed with it :) The quality wasn't great but you could see the ball. Plus the english commentators Jason Goodall + Robbie Koenig did good
