this is prolly the best chance for Agnes to beat Masha, considering she must be a bit tired after Doha...but I still think Masha is going to take it

I think playing 10 matches in 2 weeks will wear Sharapova out. But she should win this one.

Though I would LOVE to see Agi win, I can't see it happening.

Agi's performance so far this year has been erratic, so she won't be going in with the confidence necessary to do battle with Maria.

Maria may be tired from recent play, but that's because she's playing the best she has in a couple of years, and that's something for any player on tour to fear. Plus she's going to have had a few days of rest.

I'll just hope that Agi takes her to 3 sets or plays an entertaining two sets. Sharapova's 6-4 6-3 win over Radwanska was much tougher (and more entertaining) than you'd have guessed from the score.

She probably will... unless you're willing to take some grass seeds and spray them on the Phillippe Chartrier without getting caught... *hint* :o

Agnes could take this because she has nothing to lose...
But i think Pova will take this easily!
6-4 6-3 sounds about right

DUBAI WITHDRAWAL

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give you a little update on why I had to withdraw this week. First of all I was playing with a bad cold throughout the Doha tournament, but thankfully it held up well enough to keep me playing throughout the week. I flew to Dubai right after my final and woke up this morning feeling really fatigued and stuffed up with a cough. After trying to hit a little bit this evening I came to the conclusion that I'm realistically not going to be ready to play 5 matches in the next 5 days.

It's been such a great and healthy start to the year, and I dont want to jepodize that by making the wrong decisions, as I have in the past. The plan is to have a nice week of 'nothing' and start up training for Palm Springs healthy and fresh.

Once I get home you will all receive a great doodle! Can't tell you how excited I am to have some days off! To all my fans that were going to see me in Dubai...I am really really sorry but the good news is that my career is still very young and I will be back playing in Dubai many more times!!

exactly. Let's compare this time: Ana tries to play at all costs even if badly injured, Maria withdraws for a cold (in a hot desert country):tape:

Who is more committed? I'm afraid to say that Sharapova may really pull a Serena 2007 this year.

If her injury gets worsened and she's out for several weeks, you'll be singing a different song...
And yes, a cold in a desert country... but she's playing her first match at night, fool! From what I know a desert is FREEZING at night...

Maria has learnt from doing stupid things like that.

Actually these news already caused a little celebration at wtatour.ru Wait for tommorow and they will be celebrating it as if she won the damn thing ffs

And what concerns tournament directors... that's what they have legal contracts r or WTA code or something for, so that everyone knows the consequences of their actions and injured party gets compensated.

Maria withdrew because it is for her best interests. We can't judge her because we're not Masha. Imo, she did what she thinks is best and she has learned her lesson the hard way last season that prevention of injury is still best.
