Marina has been in absolutely awesome form recently, but Laura (as inconsistent as she is) has far more experience playing at this level. It could be a very close and hard fought match.

Who do you think will win?

No ones voted for Ron Paul yet...well I guess most of the people who support him don't post anywhere else anyway

If Erakovic plays the way she did in New Zealand, she has a great chance... unfortunately Venus is waiting for her if she manages to reach QF!

One match at a time...if Marina reached the quarterfinals and then was thrashed 6-0 6-0 I would still be proud of her :)

Venus could slip up along the way too

Marina hasn't got the home crowd to hype her up this time, and Laura will have learnt her lessons from last time.
Unfortunately Laura 6-3 6-1
Please prove me wrong Marina!

Without a doubt Leanne Baker, Ellen Barry, Kai Vano and Shona Lee play much better at home than away. But I really don't think this rule applies to Marina. Marina has won or performed well in a number of ITF events away from home. She really made Maria Kirilenko work for that win in Dubai last year and she has improved surely she must be in a good mental space after that incredible week in Auckland, followed by being unbeaten (in singles) at Fed Cup Asian group and then winning playing incredibly well in Australia. On top of that the surface seems to have suited her, she has been the most impressive qualifier thats for sure :)

I strongly think that Marina could beat Laura although I think it will be a close match.

But hey I could be wrong

Oh and one more thing I think it's the first time in Wtaworld history where three different kiwi posters have posted consecutively :rocker2:

I voted for Granville because I think she has more experience and after the humiliating doubles defeat, Marina will go in that match without a lot of confidence

Granville in 2... 6-4 6-1

To be totally honest I don't think that doubles really means anything, Marina won her singles match today 6-3 6-1 while Doubles was really just a good hit out.

Plenty of good doubles players arent good singles players, unless you consider the likes of Cara Black, Liezel Huber and Chia-Jung Chang aren't exactly top 20 players let alone top 100 players.

Laura in 3.

Don't trust Marina's consistency yet. Wouldn't be surprised if she won. Laura has thrown in some duds and then goes and wins Midland easily. So who knows with her.

This result can go any which way.

It gives a very good indication ;)

In that case we should all go and bet all our VCash on the Alona Bondarenko or Katerina Bondarenko to win the Miami singles title

Laura's ranking has dropped to the 90s.

Marina is playing at a top-100 level despite being in the 120s.

I actually think she has a chance

Prior to Granville's Midland 75k win at the start of February, this match up would have looked like a no brainer. Erakovic has been in fine form for some time now while Granville, before Midland, had played very little since Wimbledon last year, and when she has played mostly she has played badly. I predicted Granville losing at the Australian Open to Meusburger based on that poor form.

But Midland changes everything. Granville had a great week there and whatever was affecting her game now appears to be a thing of the past.

So who wins? Hard to say. I can honestly see Laura winning this match quite easily. But then I can see Marina winning this match quite easily too. I can see anything else in between those two extremes happening as well. I think therefore I will sit on the fence.
