No Ad scoring is the most pathetic, stupid, retarded thing ever implemented into the sport! Take it out now!!!

What do you guys think about this? Should we still have no-ad scoring in doubles matches?

Dave.

It's very unfair to have it in doubles and not singles. I would like to see full length doubles matches again. All these changes have been for the worse.

is this because erakovic lost 6-0, 6-0 in doubles today? funny how this thread hadn't popped up untill then.

i dont mind it, it makes doubles matches quicker and more singles players seem to be playing.

No, ever since I joined this thread I have commented on how womens doubles is getting less and less attention. I've never been a fan of doubles, but surely no-ad scoring just makes doubles worse!

It gives doubles an aspect of randomness which is really annoying. (I think as a general rule, this favors the weaker team though). Furthermore, I really don't see how this has led to more top singles players playing doubles

So scrap this no-ad system :bounce:

Doubles has gone downhill in my opinion with the third set supertiebreak. It's not as exciting for me anymore.

Now this, well it's almost like they are trying to squeeze out the doubles players on the tour. It sucks. What's next? One set doubles matches? Then what? Doubles matches will just be a supertiebreak?

well doubles is going to get even more unpopular unless top singles players play it. thats what no ad scoring tries to encourage. lets face it black and huber dont sell tournament tickets.

That's the road tennis is going down, mind you it would probably have to go down to One set for a large number of tennis players to specialise in it.

I don't see why you don't just scrap womens doubles and just have Mixed Doubles for all Joined tournaments.

Your everyday tennis fan would have absolutely no idea who Black and Huber were yet they could probably name 8/9 of the top 10 singles players

A vote in the poll for any of the options is counted as a signature :p

That's true. They may as well scrap womens doubles if they're just gonna invent these rules so that the singles players don't get tired for their singles matches. That's so stupid. I wonder how Cara Black, Liezel Huber, Renee Stubbs e.t.c feel about this. The doubles game they've known for years and years and years has changed a lot in the last 2 years with these lameass new rules.

Didn't the Wta tour try and do that big upgrade of Womens Doubles last year, if anything the popularity if the tour has gone downhill since then :o

Larry Scott - time to get all 8 fingers out of your a$$ and retain the Wta tours credibility!

Yes, but Lindsay/Lisa still would've double bagelled the Kiwis. It just would've taken 39 minutes instead of 37.

i'd say it takes a little of the drama out of the match. better used in amateur matches.

Chances are that a few of the deuce games would have last at least a few extra minutes, and the kiwis would have probably won a few games this way as well. My prediction would have been 50 minutes.

Eitherway that's getting off topic

MH0861 do you like no-ad scoring?

Amateur as in Challenger, Satellites, Juniors or Nationals? I think it could possibly be appropriate for Juniors, because recent research by Tennis NZ has shown that the person who gets the first point after Deuce wins around 70% of the Games.

why would they have won any games? when it got to deuce in any of the 12 games it meant that they had a point to win the game and still didn't.

please let it go, if you dont like no ad scoring in doubles fine just stop using it as an excuse for a hammering.

Very funny... this thread only exists because the Kiwis lost, no one cares about doubles anyway! I agree with your post, they would still lose 6-0 6-0

no you do, you said they would have probably won some games had there been ad scoring, thats called making excuses, they couldn't win games from deuce when only 1 point was needed what makes you think they would be able to do it when 2 points were needed?

I don't mind no-ad scores in doubles.
I don't mind a super tiebreak.

I HATE both being implemented in the same match.

We do it in high school because ad games have the potential to take ten minutes to complete :o But at the pro level it really shouldn't be that way.

No ad-scoring is okay. but i definitely hate Super Tie-Break.

I've only actually seen live this stupid no-ad, super-tie break scoring thing once (at RG last year -- they don't do it at Wimbledon) and it definitely seemed to favour the weaker team. The better team would often win the first set and a half, then lose a bit of concentration and suddenly be match points down in the tie-break! I love doubles ... or at least, I used to. I really wish they wouldn't keep messing it up and making it so random and pointless to watch.

no-ad scoring drives me insane, super tiebreak drives me insane. Very stupid rules that shouldn't of been introduced and can make doubles just a random luck of draw

The thing is, women's doubles players should just be glad they are still earning as much money as they do, despite offering a horrible horrible product. They are the last ones to complain about anything, frankly, so if no-ad means they can stay in business, great.

Of course no-ad (and also the super-tiebreak) increases volatility in the results so it gives weaker teams a better chance. That's not good. And I certainly don't like playing no-ad myself.
But from a spectator standpoint, it's actually pretty good. I have only experienced it live in men's doubles but it speeds up things and can encourage people to watch a doubles match they wouldn't watch otherwise. No one is willing to watch a 3h doubles match, but if you know in advance that it won't take forever, it's okay.

No-Ad takes out all the fun of tennis in my opinion. Love the fact that when you think someone will break, and then the player saves the break.

Doubles should really be best of three sets and not the Super Tiebreak. Sure Cara and Liezel would have won Doha if it wasnt for this rule.

All these new rules for doubles suck. Doubles is great and they are messing it up. Thank god for the Bryan brothers here in the US and that players on the men's tour still play doubles. In the WTA, it's become more of a joke sadly and has lost respect even though it's tennis probably at it's purest.
