I always forget who won the 2004 USO. I guess after the Serena QF drama I blocked it out of my mind so hard. Whenever the 2004 USO is mentioned I have to go look up the winner.

I forget Mauresmo is a multislam champ occasionally.

So funny. After the first post, I said to myself, "Of course Amelie is a two-slam champion. How unfair to forget that! The girl never gets her props." Then, after the second post it took me about 5 minutes of hard thinking to remember who won AO '06. Was on the verge of looking it up....

Sometimes I wonder who has more slams, Evert or Navratilova. Then I wonder how many slams Jaeger won...ummm. Which slams Sanchez-Vicario won. When she made the Wimbledon finals, though I think I can remember it was '95/'96, although I forget which was the one that was the absolute classic against Graf. I think '95.

I forget that Sharapova did nothing before Wimbledon '04, aside from beat the loveliest person ever for her first top ten win. Ummm. I ALWAYS forget Venus was ranked #66/low when she made her first slam final, I just kind of think she started playing her first events ranked top ten.

I'll add more to this thread when I think of them.

I agree, with the 04 Olympics being forgetable... as well as most of 04'... The only thing that pops to mind is Sharapova winning WImbledon... The rest i have to think about. )6 is a blur to. Always takes me a second... (Oh yeah Amelie won two slams.....) The French open is also usually a blur for me...the only won i can remember is the 03 calmity that was "the hand"....

I also always thinks its graf that was involved in "the bump" of 97 instead of Spirlea...lol

I always forget that Hingis made more than 6 slam finals :tape: I always just remember her 5 wins, and her first French final.

I also forget how highly ranked Sharapova was when she won Wimbledon. So even though it was unexpected, still not completely implausible that she would win.

I forgot that Paszek won a title as early as 2006, and that Mary Pierce played a few events in 2006 as well.

The timeline of Wozniacki's career is a blur for me, even though I was already beginning to follow young hopefuls and the challenger circuit at the time. I wasn't aware that she was still playing the bigger Junior events in late '06, and that she only played challengers for a brief period in early '07, while getting WCs into Tour events.

I will never forget the fact that Capriati lost the 2001 semi-final of Wimbledon to Henin. She would have lost to Venus regardless. Or how about the fact that Serena couldn't win a QF GS match in 2001 until the US Open. Davenport being so close to winning the US Open in 2004, AO in 2005, and Wimbledon 2005. Her lost to Pierce at RG shocked me since Lindsay is the better player. Sharapova not beating Serena at the AO in 2005. Kuznetsova losing so early at the 2005 USO. Hmm im thinking still.......oh yea Myskina losing to Justine at the Olympics what the hell???? 5-1 up??? Serena winning all those majors and Venus in each final. Capriati not winning the French in 2004. Dementieva not winning a major in 2004 being in both finals of RG and US Open. Lisa Raymond in the QF of the AO whoa. Justine losing to Bartoli that's freaking hilarious. Sharapova playing so well at the 2007 US Open and then losing( I was working in Grandstand that day and that was the major buzz for the day). Being at both men's and women's USO finals in 2007 (great atmosphere). Hantuchova playing out her mind and losing to Ivanovic. I'll have more later

I'm pretty good at telling you who won what slam against who from 1985 till present day, with the exception of one year. For some reason I always forget the entire 1994 season. That's the only year I can't commit to memory for some weird reason.

It always takes me a minute to recall the 02 Australian Open as well.

I can list in about 4 minutes every slam champion in the past 20 years, but the ones that I take a second to remember are always:

US Open 1994. I always think it was Graf, and that Sanchez won the Aussie in '95, but then I know Mary won the '95 Aussie, so I have to pause and remember.
French Open, 1998. I inevitably want to say that it's Seles, but of course it was Sanchez. I don't know why I have trouble remembering Arantxa's wins, I loved watching her as in the 90's.
Aussie Open, 2004. I keep jumping the gun and thinking Serena won it when Henin did.

I never forgot it but I still don't know how Graf managed to finish 1994 as world No.1 when Sanchez won two Slams, reached one final and one 4th round that year (to Graf's one Slam, one final, one semifinal and one 1st round loss) and won eight titles total to Graf's seven.

Because I just moved from S.California to Virginia and no longer have a life I thought I'd put myself to the test. I wrote out all the slam winners from 1985 till present day and I didn't do as good as I thought I would. I still haven't bother to look anything up I want to remember on my own.

Here's what I'm having trouble with:

85- Can't remember who won the US Open...
90 or 91- I know that Seles and Sabatini both won (91 and 90)but I can't remember which one won first. I want to say Sabatini but that would mean that Seles won back to back, without looking it up I'm not 100%
94- I guess I just blocked this year out. The only slam I remember from that year is Arantxa winning the US Open, that's it. And since someone just mentioned Steffi winning Oz that year I now remember that too. (That's Steffi's only slam win I sometimes forget)

It's all about stats... In 2005, Lindsay made it to two GS finals, 1 GS SF, and 1 GS QF but she still finished 2005 @ #1 because she won a shitload of titles outside of the 4 GS.
