View Full Version : Is Doha turning into a fairytale story for Bepa?

Who could forget Bepa's start to the year. She started the year great winning 6/7 matches all of them in straight sets (with just that unfortunate loss to Marina Erakovic in 3 tight sets). Then she had to withdraw before the final of Hobart after picking up an injury at training only a matter of hours before. Then the Australian Open wasn't much better, she had to withdraw from injury in her first round match. Doha is her first tournament back and she's so far posted some impressive wins over Fran and Dinara - both of who she was expected to loose too. Next up for her is Sybille Bammer, and then either Li or Jankovic

Do you think Doha has/will be a fairytale for the most entertaining women's player of all time?

I would be chuffed if Vera made the final. (but she's not beating Maria again if both get there :()

She has a pretty good chance I think.

To be completely honest I would still classify it as a fairytale story for her even if she looses the final, it's been absolutely ages since she has had a good run at a Tier I event. The last time she progressed this far in a Tier I event was Charleston event last year...she retired injured and then missed 3 months of action including both RG and Wimbledon

A fairytale which will end with the evil stepmother (Sharapova) beating her into submission.

I love Vera. I love her game.

She was hyped a lot when she was young and never really came close to achieving what people expected of her. And these days she's overlooked and underrated by most. She is a beautiful hitter of the ball and can move so well too. She's had so much bad luck throughout her career with health and injuries, so it's nice to see her in the QF of a Tier I and hopefully further.

Vera has a great chance of reaching the final of this tournament, because she´s the best player of her quarter when her game is on... if she keeps her head straight and stops crying on the court, she might reach the final, but we have to wait

she has a chance to reach to final but should get past li/jankovic which beatable if she play with her peak.IMO if vera still injury free at the rest of season her rank should about 12-15

If Doha is still being played on rebound ace then no, this isn't a fairytale story for her.
No matter the ups or downs, Vera has been the most consistent, early in the year on rebound ace.

It would be so so good for Vera to win the whole tournament. It is not beyond the realms of possibility. I think Bammer should be an easy match - and then Li would be an easier opponent than Jankovic to reach the final.

I think Vera would be a top 10 player if she wasn't sick in 2005 and if she hadnt been injured in 2007.

One more to go for her biggest singles title
