Wellington (Te Whanganui-a-Tara or Poneke in Māori (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%81ori_language)) is the capital (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital) of New Zealand (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand), the country's second largest urban area (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_areas_of_New_Zealand) and the most populous national capital in Oceania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceania). It is in the Wellington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_Region) region at the southern tip of the North Island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Island), near the geographical centre of the country.
Like many cities, Wellington's urban area extends well beyond the boundaries of a single local authority. Greater Wellington or the Wellington Region (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_Region) means the entire urban area, plus the rural parts of the cities and the Kapiti Coast (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapiti_Coast), and across the Rimutaka Range to the Wairarapa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wairarapa).
Wellington was named in honour of Arthur Wellesley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Wellesley%2C_1st_Duke_of_Wellington), the first Duke of Wellington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_of_Wellington) and victor at the Battle of Waterloo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Waterloo). The Duke's title comes from the town of Wellington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington%2C_Somerset) in the English county of Somerset (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somerset).
In Māori (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%81ori_language), Wellington goes by three names. Te Whanganui-a-Tara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Te_Whanganui-a-Tara) refers to Wellington Harbour and means "the great harbour of Tara"; Pōneke, which is often discouraged because of a belief that it is nothing more than a transliteration of the harbour's former nickname in English, Port Nick, short for Port Nicholson; Te Upoko-o-te-Ika-a-Māui, meaning The Head of the Fish of Māui (often shortened to Te Upoko-o-te-Ika), a more traditional name, as favoured by Victoria University of Wellington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_University_of_Wellington).

Injury, which explains why her Nicole Kriz has been playing with one two three a number of kiwi's in the past few months. They will hopefully renew their partnership when Leanne is fit and ready to return.

Btw I finally realised why you were so shocked about Yayuki Basuki being in the draw here (I'd never heard of her).

To everyone else who was shocked at their shock Yayuki is a former top 20 singles player and top 10 doubles player. There was alittle article about her in the paper today. Shes the coach of Romana Tedjakusuma and she wanted Romana to play doubles with her only to find that the deadline was only a short time away so she put herself down as Romanas doubles partner.

No mention of whether or not she will do the same thing in Hamilton, although shes her fulltime coach so she will be travelling with her there anyway

Shes nearly 38 years old

I believe Yayuk did what she could do...I know well that she is not the coach of Romana...Romana is permanent resident of California, Yayuk lives in Jakarta...she cannot coach...instead of having tourist visa, then she claimed herself as coach...no way with tourist visa, she could play earn prize money...I do not understand Yayuk...:confused: Yayuk/Romana lost 36 63 4-10...that's the price you had to pay when you lied...Yayuk admitted that her opponents had better serve...sure, she had no preparation for this tourney...Yayuk has been struggling after her retirement...too bad, with lack of integrity...:tape:

Romana's coach is Yayuki Basuki, if you don't believe me then you can jolly well go ask her yourself ;)

Maybe people here thought so since I have been gone so long from the tour...but then she added that she used tourist visa to enter NZL...

There will be no New Zealanders in the women’s quarters after second seeded Ellen Barry lost to Australia’s Cassandra Chan after winning the first set 6-1. She then dropped the second set 6-2 before having two matches points at 6-5 ahead in the third set but losing in a tiebreak seven points to five.

Top seed Michaela Johansson of Sweden continued her good form dropping just two games in her win over Japan’s Haruka Fujishiro while third seed Romana Tedjakusuma(Indonesia) also cruised into the quarters with a straight set win over Kaori Onishi(Japan).
