Too bad for her. But this is the best decision obviously rather playing on it even if it isn't serious.

right decision, i guess the only question now is how long will she be out for. if its very minor and shes pulled out just to be safe, then we could see her next week. though on eurosport the commentators said it had swollen up like a ballon over night, which dosen't sound good and we might not see her untill IW, miami or the clay court season.

Good decision. Of course it's disappointing to see her pull out as a fan, but it's better than making it worse and risking a longer break from tennis.

“I had icing all evening and all night, waking up each hour. When I got up this morning I couldn’t even walk properly, so that pretty much decided it,” said Ana.

“I went to the hospital for an MRI scan. Luckily there isn’t a tear, just some micro-tears. Now I just have to rest and hope that the injury recovers in time for the tournament in Dubai next week.

“It’s such a shame that this happened, because I felt I was playing well and I had good preparation for this tournament. I’m sorry to the spectators who were hoping to watch me in Doha; I’m also thankful for the many messages of support I received.

“Funnily enough, I was watching the movie Sliding Doors the night before my match. Maybe this is my destiny!” she joked.

Hopefully she'll be OK for Dubai - it doesn't sound too bad. I sprained my ankle playing tennis a couple of years ago and was in agony the next day and could barely walk, but after a couple of days the pain had gone and I was able to run in a half marathon seven days later!!

With a bye in the first round she won't have to play her first match until Thursday which gives her a full week to recover.

But tennis is not just running, you need to hit the ball and this would impair Ana's preparation.

yer she is playin in the DUBAI TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP from the 25th of FEB to the 1st of MARCH ;)

Ankle injuries can be really nasty. If Ana is able to play in Dubai she can consider herself pretty fortunate. It is never nice to have to retire from a tournament but it could have been much worse. Glad that signs are Ana is mending well. :)
