She won even though she sprained her foot, quite an effort I must say.

Congrats!

a good sportswoman checks if her opponent is ok even if just out of courtesy and the slap handshake at the end was even more display of what a poor attitude govortsova has. Im not an ivanovic fan and i thought she was an out and out ****

about the other girl....
I will repeat what I think: we all have seen several times players faking an injury just to break the other player rythim, of course that wasn't the case, but what the player is supost to do??
If is someone is doing something to fool yourself or not, is better you believe that someone is trying to fool than not, 'cause if you try to be nice and the person is lying you will have much more to lose. (as I have seen Haas vs Murray)
Let's remenber that we can see the incident for many angles and in slow motion.... the players can't. So I don't think we can judge her actions there.

Again... as someone previously said: "faking an injury is now common on the tour..."
ATP and WTA both... no one wants to be the next victim.

And to those who want to know about the incident Dexter is right: there was none. But Govortsova barely shook Anas hand, not to mention the usual conversation, good match, blah, blah. She looked so pissed and on the other side was Ana in tears. And she acted the same yesterday against Mirza.

I guess you missed the part where I said: of "course that wasn't the case"

all that I'm saying is that everytime that someone get's hurt and the other player don't go there to check on the player, everyone jumps on it.
So, what I'm saying is, that maybe we should not judge, 'cause the other player can't see what we see with several angles and slow-motion, and there's always that doubt of: "Is she really injuried or not!?"

I believe we should always try to understand the other players, at least give them the benefit of the doubt...
but well... criticize is always the easy way out.

Because Ana was totally in control when it happened and clearly in great pain. There was no doubt about faking in this case. Anyway I'm talking about handshake and lack of usual kind words after the match, not the way Govortseva reacted when Ana injured herself.

well, that I didn't see
but considering what you said I agree... no matter what, I believe you still must be polite at the end of a match

about the "kind words", she said anything bad to Ana or just said nothing?
well, I guess we can also add that the girl is still young, no that justify her actions, but is another way to look at the situation.

Maybe there's no requirement for someone like Govortsova or Sharapova to run over to the other side of the net and aid their injured opponent, but that would be the sportsmanlike thing to do. After seeing Pennetta recently come to her opponent's aid, or Zvonareva rushing with ice to Mary Pierce, it just looks like Olga missed an opportunity so show some class. Which makes me wonder if she has any.

Well, I officially hate Govortsova, this girl has no heart!
Against Mirza she kept comeoning after Sania was hurt which was totally disgusting, and now against Ivanovic. She didn't seem to care when Ivanovic fell, and when the match was over no "get well" or something.. I know sh lost and she was upset, bet serously, anyone who has feeling would care!
And for the record, I'm not a fan of Ivanovic or Mirza
