A wonderful result. Li was robbed in the Miami quarterfinal last year. This has been a really good year for Li, just like 2007 was starting out for her as well. Hopefully Li won't be seen as a joke (somehow) soon enough when she keeps beating the top ten players.

Conditions aside I think Anna needs a break and regroup. She was fired up in Paris after her big win at Fed Cup but she is still having a see saw year.

Anna has been suffering from a slump since her semi final appearance at the US Open last year. Her win loss record is 12 - 10 since then, but the wins include two retirements and two wins in Fed Cup so with that in mind, Chaky is essentially 8 - 10 in all completed matches in tour events since the US Open. Even then, her wins have come against players who are lowly ranked (Tu, Kleybanova), playing with injuries (Jankovic and Serena at YEC) or players who are experiencing slumps as well (Mauresmo, Szavay, Jankovic at YEC again).

Chaky does not need tournament wins against below par, slumping players. She needs wins against in form players in order to boost her confidence.
