Asian girls should really play only doubles. They are too weak and thin to play singles...

Shvedova is good !

I'm delighted. :bounce:

Yari really does look like she is getting her game together now. As this season is going on she seems to slowly but surely be getting better and better. She has now won 5 out of her last eight matches and of the three she lost in 2 of them she was a set and a break up. The one other match was against Mauresmo where Yari staged a great 2nd set comeback only to just miss taking it to a 3rd set. So in other words Yari has been competitive in all eight matches. Yari might not win every match but she certainly won't give her opponent an easy win.

And best of all, Yari seems to have this knack to raise her game against the best opponents. That doesn't mean she always beats them but she rarely loses easily to a quality opponent and the way she is playing right now I am pretty confident Jankovic will have a tough match in the next round. :bounce:

Come on Yari!! You can do it. :rocker:

I love how she ventures into the net so often. She is not like other Russian players, she hits hard from the back, but she also comes into the net and even serve volleys. love her game

.... probably better then watching Zheng slug out 30 shot rallies only for Jankovic to end it with a backhand winner, 6-2 6-2 in more than two hours.

Good luck Yaroslava.

Hope Jie can take out the doubles then ;)

Yaroslava has really turned round recently and is getting some good wins together. She showed potential at Bangalore and Miami, and then was hit and miss throughtout the year. I think she can soon climb back up the rankings and be favourites for the smaller tour events.

Yari vs Jelena is going to be a cracker for sure. For one thing, it pits the two biggest smiles on the WTA tour face to face. That alone will make the match something special.
And Yari plays her best against the top players. I think the only times Yari hasn't played competitive tennis when up against a top 50 player was her very 1st WTA maintour level match against Petrova and last year against Mirza at Wimbledon. Besides those they have all been close and Yari has come up the winner numerous times, including last week against Bammer, against Mirza and Santangelo in Bangalore last year, Katerina Bondarenko, Julia Vakulenko and of course Jelena's compatriot Ana Ivanovic.

I am so looking forward to this one. :bounce:
