I guess since she won most of these last year she needs to defend some?

GO EVIE!

I have a feeling its not gonna be easy! There are many players here who are in much better form...she's gonna have her work cut out for her

Thanks for the posting Danker.

This is a second victory in 2 ITF tourneys in Australia for Stephanie Cohen Aloro, which is excellent for her.

Next match will be a little bit more diificult but a good experience for her. I just hope she will be a bit more aggressive than during her match against Su Wei in Pattaya.

Good luck to Eun Ha for the coming match. Tough one...

A good routine win for Saori.
There definitely is something wrong with Rika.
Congrats to Kristen, but I don't think she did anything special to beat her.
Rika's form is puzzling. She won the National Champs (singles and doubles) and was R/U in the mixed. Then last week, she lost a heartbreaker to Sterk. Maybe that match was a turning point to her form. She never seems to do well in South Australia. She lost in the 1st rd in all 3 tourneys last year too. I just hope she picks up some points next week. Very disappointed.

I really expected Shiho to play a bit better. 1-6 1-6 is a disgusting score. She did very well to qualify for the Princess Cup, but she's gone downhill since then. You never know with her, she can do well one moment and crash the next minute. That's why her rank's been hanging around the last few years at the same place. Akiko Morigami used to be the same, but this year has really made a huge jump.

tennispro,

Welcome to the board!

I have seen Kristen play a few times and I have been very impressed. She definitely has the talent to be ranked a lot higher and I think with continued perseverence, hard work and more experience it will happen.

I have to say that I had hoped Kristen would have been ranked closer to 200 this year. I felt that she played way too many $10K events and not enough $25K+ events. I understand there are huge financial restrictions as well as others but I do hope that Kristen does push on too greater heights. I hope next year she can play more events and can crack the top 175! I really felt though that if she had scheduled better this year that she would be ranked 50 places higher.

Perhaps you might like to start a thread in here for Kristen's proposed schedule for 2002 and we can give you some feedback/opinions you might like to consider!

Just a thought hehehe. Best of Luck next week Kristen!

Big congrats to all my girls - Eun-Ha, Yoon-Jeong, and Soari
Surely one of you will take this title!
Bad luck for Topalova though who is obviously very talented and i thought she was going to win that match!

Yoon-Jeong Cho plays very much like Martina Hingis, makes very few errors, but her ability
to play aggressivly is matched by her unbreakable defences.... i remember seeing Maria Elena Camerin unleash a barrage of flat hard forehands at Yoon-Jeong but to no avail, Yoon-Jeong moved like she was on skates and covered the court beautifuly, her speed and accuracy make her very dangerous and she really is an all-court player....
with the way i have described her you would reckon she IS a top player .... but Yoon-Jeong tends to lack focus on the important points .... however she has had a wonderful year and should really be in the top 75 IMO

I have seen Saori play as well.... but i was stupid and only watched a few points
she is double handed both sides and plays smart baseline tennis.... she seems like quite a fighter as welll.... she doesn't seem to have any big weapons but judging from the later part of this year... it is clear that Saori is quite a talent.... i couldn't split Yoon-Jeong and Saori though from the year that they have both had, they are both doing good latelly and showing consistent form

Eun-Ha has no weapons to my knowlege, she is quite incosistent in her performences but when she is playing well she seems to really give the more favourted players plenty of trouble.

Hope i blabbed on enough

I'm glad Saori beat Christina easier than she did last week. She beat Bryanne comfortable on grass in May, hope she can do the same again. BTW, Saori is a lefty with a double backhand. That's probably why Vixen thought she was double handed both sides. I love watching lefties play.

Obata won, she beat Cho in the final 6-4, 6-1
btw, When the Danish player Dyrberg play in a Challenger, we can always read her scores in the paper (IF you get the right paper)

Nice to see Saori win another challenger, shame she hits form at the end of the tour when all the WTA tourneys are ending! .... but this is good for her ranking
Congrats to Yoon-Jeong who is obviously also in good form..... i am surprised she lost to Saori so easily! .... but Saori is very talented so congrats to her
