Get well and fit soon Jelena. You need to stop playing with lots of niggles. Give things time to recover

She's going to drop if her clay season isn't very good.

Wayn77
Feb 10th, 2008, 03:31 PM
Plagued with niggling injuries since the start of the season.

The back is the most serious and needs recovery time. Skip Doha and Dubai?

JJ and her advisors have some tricky decisions to make.

Every time I've tuned in this year Jelena has been injured. I think the better choice of words is that her injuries have not forced her to take a break, because she was ailing at both Hopman and during the AO.

Seems to be a bit of a streak of injuries early in this season (although this is my first season following the tour closely so it might be just the usual stuff and I am just stumbling into it for the first time). Perhaps there is too short an off-season and also conditioning does not appear to be high up on the priority list for some of the coaches who guide the careers of these professionals.
so far on my count Vakulenko is out, Azarenka is out, Kirilenko has had to be on the side lines, Jankovics has had a number of injuries........ and Molik (almost forgot her)...
Any posters with more "experience" here than I care to make some comments on this streak of bad luck for the players.

I was just gonna ask about her and why she isn't playing anything. But it is actually good for her all this rest. She should stay out and relaxe and come back for Dubai. Watch out for her, she's gonna come back on the hunt for slam i know it!

GET BETTER JELENA!!!!!:bounce:

Bad news - but she's had injuries all over the place this season - her butt, her back, her shoulder, her thigh. I hope she really just takes the time off she needs and takes all the advice about how long it will take to clear them up.

I do realise that the AO and the Fed Cup meant far more to her than most of us can understand. But now there shouldn't be anything more important to her than taking care of her injuries before playing again.

Jelena's failed to realize what an effect the overplaying has had on her. She's been somewhat lucky to escape without a huge injury so far, but these smaller ones are a result of her body being overworked and underpampered. I don't know if this is what it'll take for her to take the time she needs. At the end of last year, I thought she'd need a minimum of 6 weeks recovery time (2-3 weeks not playing at all and then slowly working her way into fitness and form), but that didn't happen because of her surgery. This is actually her best chance...to skip Doha, Dubai, & possibly even IW, and get herself back into top form. But I'm seriously having doubts that this will happen.

I think she'll be back in 2 weeks and she'll be fresh as new. She probably has a high injury turnover rate.

...It was so hard to wake up on Tuesday morning and catch an early flight after the party. I was heading to the United States and a long trip was ahead of me. The positive thing was that I felt so tired, and I slept most of the time. The trip passed by so fast and I was ready for Wednesday, to start practicing with my coaches (tennis and conditioning). I felt really good, it is such a nice feeling when you do not feel any pain, I was getting stronger and then suddenly towards the end of my practice session on Saturday, I felt a sharp pain in my back. It is very frustrating. I just cannot feel well for an extended period of time. Today I spent some time relaxing, trying to treat the injury, but most probably I will visit Serbia again on my way to Doha in order to get couple of extra therapies so I am ready for the tournaments in the Middle East...
She will probably play Doha and Dubai this month and her back injury seems not so serious.
