I think Vee needs to play with more authority and aggression. It seems like she is playing conservative to avoid self-destructing but if she continues to play tentative she'll lose. If she plays with controlled aggression she'll win

She played this way in London and she still slayed Ana.

I'm sure Venus will elevate her level. I'm saying Venus in two.

Based on their performance in the first 4 rounds here, Ana might win in 3.

But Venus will step up to the task at hand. Inevitably a night session match, Venus will prevail in 2 sets.

venus didnt impress me for that first week, got broken many times against decent but no great players.
Ivanovic despite the fact she s been clashed 2 times in straight sets at wimbly and US open by venus,I think she wont lose that easily,I would say Ivanovic winner in 3 hard sets.

Ivanovic=slow, doesn't like receiving Venus' big serve, backhand is alright.
Venus wins in 2 tight sets.
personally i can't see Vee losing this match when her opponent hasn't even won a set against her

Both haven't reached their best tennis yet, especially Venus but I think it's time for Venus to step it up or this can be a ton of trouble for her.

But I say she does, Venus in straights. Plus Ana has never taken a set off of Venus. Should be a good match nonetheless.

IF you go by current form, Ana will win this match. Vee has had a super cushy draw, and yet she has had some really close sets and sloppy play. On the ohter hand, Ana has looked in great form, and you can see a BIG difference in her movement due to the work she did in the off season on her movement. That could be the determining factor.

If you look at H2H and consider that you never know with Vee when her game may pick up, it could be a really tight match, with a tip towards Vee due to big match experience.

I think that Ana will prevail in 3 sets. She continues to improve and wants revenge from Wimbly/USO last year and Vee doesn't seem to be on top of her game right now (plus her leg is highly strapped). I would be happy if either win though. Who ever wins this match will be in the Final, that is for sure!

Everybody says Venus is sloppy I understand that for her match vs. Pin and the end vs. Yan, but Mirza and Domachowska outplayed Venus, I don't think Ivanovic can outplay Venus because in their last matches Ivanovic hasn't done well with Venus serve and hasn't challenged Venus, Venus will need to attack Ivanovic movement and backhand like their previous meetings.

Certainly right.
Ana's movement and serve improved as well.

I haven't seen much of Venus this tournament, but I'm surprised that people say Ana will win if you look at current form.
Is Venus really that bad?

Ana showed a nice set against Wozniacki and the match against Srebotnik wasn't bad either. But Ana is certainly not at her highest level, she really can play better than this.

With today's performance I'm kinda scared that Ana will lose again in 2 sets. Just too defensive and her FH isn't that dangerous anymore.
I really hope Ana can prove me wrong that day.

Ana is down 0-4 to Venus. No one on the tour made it 0-5.
Schnyder was 4-0 up against Ana and won all 8 sets, just like Venus.
Look at the H2H now.....
Amelie beated Ana 5 times, but also lost 2.
In Sydney Ana won her first set against Henin. For sure you can say it wasn't a great Henin, but she did serve really well in the 3rd set. That's what decide the match.

It's finally time for Ana to beat Venus. Surface is slower than Wimbledon and US Open I guess and Ana's movement has improved since then. Then you should think Ana will bring a lot more back.
I just try to stay positive, but I'm so scared for another loss :help:

I agree. I was just watching her LA SF with Jankovic and her forehand looked amazing. However, it doesn't even seem that powerful in the AO this year.

I watch some matches from 2005 and she was so damn good there already.
No fear at all. Her movement is better now (2006 was worse than 2005), serve more consistent and she has more experience.
She plays more solid now, which is not good for her biggest weapon.
It all started during RG 2007 with LA as exception.

You can't seriously compare Patty Schnyder with Venus Williams
I do agree that this is a fantastic opportunity for Ana to win though. She has been showing decent form coming in, better than Venus at least. As much as she says she's "ready to beat Venus and she wants revenge," I don't feel like she'll be mentally able to close it out if she gets into a tight winning position (Obviously being a set and 5-2 up would be okay).
I think it depends on what kind of game plan Ana comes out with. I think that if she rallies with Venus and waits for the right opportunities to attack, she'll have a real shot. However, if she tries to go for crazy stuff and take Venus' FIRST serve inside the baseline (ala US Open), then she'll lose it in straights again.
