DAKAR (AFP) - Serena and Venus Williams, currently ranked one and two on a women's tennis circuit they are dominating, are to visit Senegal toward the year's end, their mother Oracene Williams said Thursday.

Oracene Williams has been in Senegal since Saturday with a view to "identifying opportunities for charity work" and to prepare a visit by her celebrity daughters.

She told journalists that Serena and Venus would likely visit around December, adding the pair were keen to get involved with fronting some charity work in girls' education and children's projects.

Oracene Williams, accompanied by Cora Masters Barry, wife of former Washington mayor Marion Barry, earlier had an audience with Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade.
