Jelena Dokic, the Australian who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2000 and was once No 4 in the world, had put her name forward for Barnstaple but has withdrawn to play a $100,000 tournament in Japan instead.

But I'm sure those who will attend it will have a great time. The playing area is new-built and the stadium even has hawk-eye technique.

Too bad they didn't think of the fans outside of Ningbo.

She just needs to play every single tournament possible until the end of the season. She just needs to find some form and she will be on fire and get a string of good results like she's done these past 2 years on the ITF circuit.

For 2011 though, PLEASE no damn break after the Aussie Open. It always completely screws with her form/momentum/health and she's MIA for months on end.:help:

I agree with the fact Jelena has to continue playing after the Australian Open, however when she is going to step up and participate more in WTA events. She has the opportunity to play in the smaller WTA events and she always choooses to participate in the ITF events.

I really hope Jelena can fulfil her potential, but it seems that whenever she does gain some good form from playing these events. Her form goes AWOL at the time of qualifying for the Grand Slam events. Like the US open this year for example!!Does her form really improve by playing these events??

If Jelena wants to continue playing on the ITF circuit, thats fine. Dont expect her to make any significant runs in the Grand Slams or Premier Mandatory Tournaments

I hope she does play well in the big tournaments next year but it seems very unlikely she will

I think anyone of us would love to see Jelena in a WTA.

But now I just don't think it's the right time to do so, having a lot of points to defend until season ending, with a top 100 ranking and direct entry into AO MD on stage.
An unnecessary risk, especially when she could face a top seed in 1st round...

WhatTheDeuce
Oct 1st, 2010, 09:22 PM
The problem is even when she regains her form and starts having consistent success in ITF's, she doesn't move up to WTA, she just takes time off and then does the ITF go-round again. How many times is she gonna force herself to do this? It's insane already.

As long as she's happy... I'm just confused as to what Jelena actually wants to achieve in tennis, cause her actions aren't speaking the way her words are.

Graf~Dokic

OK Can someone confirm if this is right, I think I have done it correct, but just incase:

$50,000 Joue-les-Tours 2010
Jelena has 50 points to defend for making the final last year
$50,000 Saint Raphael 2010
Jelena has no points to defend.

Both events are only worth 70 points each so…
Jelena is currently ranked 109th with 633 points.
The loss of 50 points will see her fall to 583 points which puts her at 121st in the world, then

A win in Joue-les Tours will see her get to 653 points (107in the world) and a
Win in Saint Raphael will grant her bonus points, the full 70 being…723 which would see her ranked at 92nd.

Disclaimer: This is only going off current ranking points and places, players ranked above could potentially alter this outcome.

So basically the way it looks, Jelena NEEDS to step-up this week or else she will fall backwards, but then next week is all bonus points.

I would like to see Jelena back in the top 100 by the end of the year, however IF (as I don’t know) these are her LAST TWO events then she will be in trouble unless she kicks ass and wins both events.

She's played one good tourney and now going into the MD on a WC, if she loses to Flavia she's got no positives to take from this Dubai.
