At this rate Jelena will be done with tennis by USO. She won't get another helpline from Tennis Australia if she doesn't make the main/qualifying draw at the next AO herself.

The situation is pretty desperate. Wondering if something's up between her and the Bikic brothers?

But look, the same crap happened last year. She disappeared from tour and then suddenly started playing ITF's. She lost twice in round 2 and then won 100k, 50k and reached 50k final. If someone offered me that scenario this year, I'd take it.

I think Jelena can be in Warsaw qualifying still. Because in tomorrow's qualifying matches, 28 players are scheduled to play. But the draw has made from 32 players. So, 2 players' match haven't been scheduled. It should be Jelena's and one another girl's match.( maybe Cetkovska? )That's just what I think though. But we should be positive. And if it is like how I consider, then it is better for Jelena. She can win another match tomorrow morning and tank the other one to move in Poland.:)

LOL. Good decision to enter just in case the pessimism turns out to be warranted. :p She needs matches, matches, matches. And when she feels like taking another 3 month break, she should take two weeks instead and then go back to the 'matches, matches, matches' mentality.

I think it's probably a good move to play Rome and Marseille. She needs to lift her form gradually and hopefully be ready for Wimbledon qualies. It's not as if she's clueless on grass (in fact, quite the opposite) as some of her opponents there might be, so as long as she can play solid practice sets before the tournament starts, she should be fine.

I think Jelena's too single-minded and stubborn in the way she chooses to play tennis in order to maintain a relationship with any reputable coach.

She won't change her serve, she won't change her strategy at all, she seems unable to maintain her physical fitness, and she just seems like the kind of person who needs things to be in her control. Coaches don't take well to these types of players.

She's about half way there physically at this point. It's so typical that she withdraws from her next tournament, retreats to her sofa and eats herself back to 0%. It won't be long before she turns up at US Open qualifying 15kg overweight and gives interviews about how hard she'll work for the following week and a half.

Had she have qualified last week and won her first round match, I'm sure she would still be playing Cuneo next week. We can applaud her for how many times she gets up, but the fact is that when she starts falling, she doesn't hold her hands out to break the fall.

How do you know she didn't withdraw so she could work hard on her fitness for a week? Her lack of foot speed was really exposed at Wimbledon; she knows she's going nowhere till she gets fit.

I'm used to Jelena's so-called "fan" forum being a place where she gets ripped to shreds at the slightest provocation, but since her serious return to tennis a couple years ago, all of her withdrawals/weight gain periods have been related to either the mono or to injury.

I swear Jelena's TF "fan" forum is the only fan forum in the world where the alleged "fans" turn against their "fave" so viciously with every absence or loss. It's pathetic and ugly.

I could say the same about you, turning up in Jelena's "fan" forum only to criticize her real fans.

You can't tell me with certainty that all of Jelena's withdrawals/weight gain periods have been related to mono or injury, or that she takes off only the absolute necessary time for each problem. Most of her injuries and illnesses seem to occur after a stretch of poor results and all of them inconveniently prevent her from doing fitness work.

Let's look at her injury/break patterns from the last few years:

2008 - Lost in Australian Open qualifying, took a 3 month break and returned overweight. When she finally did come back and won 25k Darmstadt, her results went downhill so she took a break. After accepting a wild card into Linz and losing in the 2nd round, she decided to take (you guessed it) another break.

2009 - Suffered a back injury against Dementieva at RG, finally came back at Wimbledon, lost in R1, took her next break and gained weight before a return at the US Open.

2010 - After losing in the first round of the Australian Open, she came down with an unnamed illness, returned in Monterrey looking out of shape and then took yet another break when her initial results were unimpressive. Well here we are again with another break, only this time Jelena has a wrist injury. I sincerely do hope you're right though, in two weeks she'll show up in Biarritz in better shape, after doing lots of fitness work that her mild wrist injury won't prevent her from doing. :)

Let's not be so hard on Coco V's, Aunt, Janie. The fact is, Jelena suffers from depression and it causes her to be lethargic, unmotivated and, most likely, to eat a lot and gain weight. I guess her fans want her to try and find some kind of solution to her mental problems. Anti-depressants can help--I'm not sure she's trying any meds--she at least doesn't seem to be managing the depression well. I certainly could be wrong-it's just tough, as a fan, to be on this Dokic merry-go-round.

I think she'll play before that, but if it's another injury-related absence, I think she'll retire by the end of this year.

Jelena's wiki page says she will be out for six weeks but as it is wiki you can make of it what you will.
