Honestly, right now all I want Jelena to do is continue playing, I dont care where. I have a feeling she will spend the rest of the year on the ITF circuit. After the two 50ks there is a 100k in Italy and in France the same week. Hopefully she will enter one of those as well and then call it a season and start training hard for next year. Do you think she will return to Australia early to prepare or will she stay somewhere in Europe. Personally, I hope she decides to head to Australia.

Smart scheduling. Would have loved to see her enter a WTA event beore the season ends, but there's really no point going from ITF to a Tour event, then back to ITF events. Four solid tournaments back-to-back is a nice way to end the season, though I believe she will pull out of at least 1 of them; either the second 50K or the event right after the 100K event.

She won't rise a whole lot in the rankings if she does well in these events, but she should end in the 50-55 range which is solid.:yeah: With some kind draws during the summer swing, she can gain more points and hopefully defend half her QF points from last year.:scared:

I think playing the ITF's is the right choice. All she is looking to do now is get as many matches as possible before the end of the year. She herself stated that she had zero expectations for the remainder of the year. Jelena has BARELY played this season so she needs to get as many matches as possible. She would probably loose first round if she played tour events right now.

Yes, Tarpischev says it in his interview http://tennis.sport-express.ru/reviews/1899/ that Jelena Dokic asked Kremlin Cup organisers for a wild card. They will decide everything tomorrow as they have plenty of Russian players who want WC as well.

This must be the players in the top ten. After this, the Board of Directors will name the names of all participants of the tournament. "

2 WC's are for TOP 10 players ONLY. The other 2 WC's are at their disposal.

If no TOP 10 players request a WC, then the next 2 OUT will be directly in (Govortsova & Chakvetadze).

I think they're waiting to see if a TOP 10 player wants one, because if one does then Chakvetadze won't be in directly, and then the organizers will give her one of the two WC's that aren't for TOP 10.

There are 2 WC's for non TOP 10 players. Jelena could still have one, but her chances get slimmer if a TOP 10 does use a TOP 10 WC, and Chakvetadze requires one of the two non TOP 10 WC's.

Understand?

2 WC's are reserved for TOP 10. Meaning if both aren't used, the next 2 into MD are in directly (Govortsova & Chakvetadze). Since Kuznetsova wants a TOP 10 WC, only Govortsova will get in directly, meaning Chakvetadze will need a non TOP 10 WC. There are only 2 of these.

Really Moscow only has 2 WC's to give out, as two are reserved for ONLY TOP 10 PLAYERS. They can't give MDWC's to Chakvetadze, Dokic, Pivovarova and Kalabina. It's not possible. They'd have to choose 2. They COULD give WC's to Kuznetsova, Dementieva, Chakvetadze and Dokic though.

Dulko has withdrawn, and Govortsova has moved into MD. Chakvetadze is now ALT #1. Even with Kuznetsova using a TOP 10 WC, Chakvetadze will enter MD directly AS LONG AS the other TOP 10 WC isn't used. Therefore the 2 x non TOP 10 WC's have become available again. :D

As it stands she needs 320 points to break top 50 (that obviously doesn't include changes to other players points) and even if she plays and wins all the tournaments she is scheduled to play, not including Moscow, she can only accumulate another 332 points so although it is mathematically possible it's very unlikely and anyway I think her main goal is insuring her top 100 status so that she can relieve the pressure of those points in January and that is possible (191 points).

All in all I think her ranking will be fine, providing she stays healthy.

She would need more points as Dulgheru is very close to Top 50 and she's also playing a lot of ITF during next few weeks. But 3 most important things right now are:
1) getting as many points as possible to stay inside Top 100 even if she loses all her matches in Australia
2) playing a lot of matches to improve her game
3) not playing too many tournaments so she won't be too tired before next season starts.

Pervak is OK, but Buchina?! Who is she?

If nobody from the top 10 wants the top 10 WC has Jelena got a chance to receive that one instead?

Buchina is US Open Girls finalist this year.

No. If no top-10 players asks the wild-card, then Chakvetadze and Niculescu will be moved into MD. Dokic would have needed two more withdrawals.

:tears:

Oh well, atleast now she stays in France. It could have potentially fucked her majorly in the ass. Winning in Joue les Tours, flying to Moscow..maybe losing, flying back for Poitiers..maybe losing. Atleast now she can rest and then prepare in France for Poitiers.

Oh. :( Pervak has been working hard on the ITF tour this year and has finally left juniors, so I'm not surprised she got a WC, but Buchina? She's done nothing on the senior tour. Has she even played on the senior tour yet?

The last small hope, a MD WC for Luxemburg, is gone as they gave it to Polona Hercog.

polana hercog on hard courts
maybe a bit of it is jelenas own fault. Howcome she never enters tournaments like linz/osaka/luxembourg

Yes, as MDO.

If she had requested a WC for Luxembourg instead I'm sure they had given it to her, and not to Hercog.

Yeah but she entered these events as MDO, realising she needs to play most weeks mean no chance to play Q. Also, there's that rule that says if you're in the list for a WTA event in MD or Q, then you can't withdraw for an ITF or your points won't be counted.

Shame that Jelena won't be playing anymore WTA this season:sad:!

However at least she's still playing in the middle of Oct, something we haven't seen for quite a while;)!

end of 07' when she still hadn't played fed cup n they were talkin bout the olympics he was makin comments nothin serious, just like maybe i won't pick her to play fed cup then she wont be able to go to the olympics (not that it mattered)... just gave me the shits at the time... like you wouldn't pick one of the best players in the world for your fed cup team...
