The Prime Contenders

Venus?
Henin trails 2-7...
...but won their last meeting at USO.

Serena?
Henin is tied 6-6...
...with winning their 3 previous meetings.

Sharapova?
Henin leads 6-2...
...but came close to losing in their previous match.

Davenport?
Henin leads 7-5...
...and has won the previous 7 meetings.

=======

The Supporting Cast

Kuznetsova?
Henin leads 15-2...
...but Kuznetsova won their 2nd to last meeting.

Jankovic?
Henin leads 9-0...
...and Jelena has gotten worse against her.

Mauresmo?
Henin leads 8-6...
...and Mauresmo has recently not been playing at her capability level.

Dementieva?
Henin leads 9-2...
...with absolutely no predictability in Dementieva's game.

Bartoli?
Henin leads 3-1...
...and demolished Bartoli (double bagel) in their previous dinner.

=====================
Others to Watch out for...

Hantuchova?
Henin leads 3-2...
...and has won their most recent meeting, while the others were 5 years ago.

Chakvetadze?
Henin leads 3-0...
...and has won each in straights.

Ivanovic?
Henin leads 3-0...
...and all in straight sets.

Safarova?
Henin trails 0-1...
...but Safarova is inconsistent.

Vaidisova?
Henin leads 4-0...
...but Vaidisova came close in their last meeting.

Petrova?
Henin leads 11-2...
...but all their recent meetings have been tightly contested.

Golovin?
Henin leads 4-0...
...but no win has been easy.

Schiavone?
Henin leads 6-0...
...but all matches have been close.

Schnyder?
Henin leads 8-1...
...and sometimes Henin wins easily.

Razzano?
Henin leads 4-1...
...but their last match in 2007 had a final set tiebreak.

Sugiyama?
Henin leads 4-1...
...and Sugiyama doesn't play like she used to.

Daniilidou?
Henin is tied 2-2...
...though oddly either crushes Daniilidou or comes close to beating her.

Shaughnessy?
Henin leads 3-1...
...with their last meeting almost 2 years ago and currently Shaughnessy injured.

Molik?
Henin leads 5-0...
...but was pushed a bit in their previous meeting.

=======

other dangerous players with a miserable h2h history with henin...
Safina, Zvonareva

=======

other players who haven't met Henin often but still have lost
Kirilenko, Peer, Srebotnik, Bondarenko, Bammer, Paszek, Radwanska

=======

other players who have no history against henin and have been great for bandwagoning
Szavay, Mirza, Li, Azarenka

Scary statistics for everybody except a Williams and to some extend Momo.

I think it will be some nobody. She will fall in a massive upset to someone playing the tennis of their life, who then looses in the next round

Didn't she beat Henin in 1r of wimbledon after Henin had one the FO?

Nah I think a big name will take Henin in the latter stages of the competition, hopefully QF but more likely later.

I think its gonna take an on form Williams, Mauresmo, Sharapova, Davenport who are really on top form!

yes... 7-6(8), 2-6, 7-5
other win... 2002 S'Hertogenbosch (Grass) 4-6, 7-6(9), 6-3

losses...
San Diego R32 2003 6-1 6-1
Dubai QF 2007 6-0 6-2

now that's odd, or just shows how much more vulnerable Henin is on grass.

she will not lose a match in 08'

Barbarela
Jan 5th, 2008, 08:44 PM
She's not invencible, thank God! She will lose as everybody, i'm tired of a Justine dominance, she has no carisma, she's a good technical player but nothing more.. something is missing in her to be nº 1, maybe ...fairplay?!

Venus, Serena, will love you... do something, pleasssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee..........

Pova, Szavay, or Venus Williams will get her in Australia.

Pova, Szavay, or Venus Williams will get her in Australia.

Why didn't Pova do it at the YEC when Pova was playing REALLY well? Why will the AO be different?

Pova played better at the '06 USO F than the YEC '07 F. The result was pretty clear there, but I'm not here to argue. They're both champions. :)

I mean, saying Pova isn't that weird of a choice, really. She's a better chance to do it than almost everyone else.

i think davenport has a good chance at beating henin. she's exuding much confidence, and her game shows it too. i hope someone other than henin will win ao and the other gs's.

the Henin critics strike again! but this is true, she is a very quiet champion kind of like federer or sampras, but this is not always the best thing for the women's game whose popularity comes from much more than just tennis itself. plus, many non-casual fans still view her as a cheat.

AO SF 2008 -

that would be nice yet it'd be kind of boring match...

like jelenaj!!!!!! :D

gah!!! :worship: :smooch: that'd make my year if jj won a gs

alas, her chances of winning ao, let alone beating henin, are hampered b/c of her hamstring injury. i can't believe she still hasn't dropped out of sydney. that's why i'm hoping davenport (if they meet) will beat henin. it makes the prospects of someone other than henin winning ao more tangible.
