Catalina Castaño is currently the last accepted player in Australian Open MD due to Likhovtseva withdrawal.

Her preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year has been simply :haha:

Auckland qualies: lost to #948 WTA Vladimira Ulhirova 63 76

Sydney qualies: lost to #108 WTA Sorana Cirstea 60 60

Hopefully Lourdes will get her and win those juicy 60 points

I predict Catalina winning the AO :weirdo:

No but Vladimira is a great doubles player. She is really good so it's not that a big shock that Catalina lost and Cirstea is an upcoming talent altough this results are dissapointing

Yeah right, she must be a great doubles player but she's 30 and had never beaten a top 200 player before. That's such a :o:o loss

I liked how Catalina played last year the Australian season beating Li and Santangelo. The problem is that she's going through a difficult moment in her life which doesn't give her confidence in herself. Anyway, I think Colombia didn't have a good player since Zuluaga retired.

No, but there are a lot of good players outside the Top 32 like
Cibulkova, Paszek, Cornet, Davenport(at the moment), Pennetta,...;)

While I don't follow Castano's career, I surely would not laugh at her results. She obviously is going thru a rough patch at the moment, and I don't know if its something physical or mental. But I don't think its a laughing matter. I'm sure there are plenty of posters on this site who would love to trade their life for that of a professional tour player (at least a succesful player). I hope Castano finds her rhythm and game soon and turn things around.:)

Drake1980

I think castano has a good shot at winning a Round at Aus. Open. She is quite good on Hardcourts and yes she has some bad losses to start the year but she will learn from those losses I'm sure.

I certainly wouldn't either...but isn't she the same girl who got spanked by almost 50 year old Martina Navratilova 60 61 a few years ago in Wimbledon? :help:

Tamira was lucky with her GS Draws last year ... not :weirdo:-"lucky" like Muller but she had the luck not to play against Henin in the first rounds  (Okay, except RG).

So we'll see maybe Tamira vs. Castano :D
