What a great start into the season :worship:

Her serve seemed to be really well in the first set (and the second till 4-0 :p )
Nice choke at the end (6-1 5-2 40-0) but she did it

Watch out Lindsay, watch out :p

Joke performance from Kirilenko. Her serve was abismal, she could never convert BP's.

Oh come on. Mods could've just edited the other thread.

Maria saved her points from last year.

Tamira deserves it. Such a class act.

Unforced Errors : 11-25

 Those are nice stats from Tamira. I hope she can keep up this level of play and maybe even take a set off Davenport and then have another good grand slam result at Oz.

She needs as many points as she can get before the clay season, where she might not make much headway.

It is not as obvious as you think. Tamira was just a game away from beating Henin last year in Dubai...

I think some people just need to lower their expectations of Kirilenko. When everything comes together she's got a strong game but she simply isn't that great at a lot of the things she's tries. She's got a decent net game but it's not spectacular. I like that she comes forward but it's not going to win many matches against better opponents. She reminds me of a less talented version of Kournikova. I know people will disagree. i'm not saying this out of any animosity towards her.

I agree I find Maria's game very similar to Kournikova's probably just not as good (when Anna was at her best)

I like that comparison. Maria is a lesser version of Anna with less feel for the ball.

No, I do agree. It's a good analysis of her game.
She seriously needs to learn how to be much more aggressive and she'll see where it takes her.
Im just so disappointed with her performaces right now...

Yes she should have -- this is as good as Kirilenko will ever get, while Paszek is just starting a fine career.

You are way too harsh on her. "Poor man's Kournikova" or not, Maria is only 20 and has plenty of time to improve. She has plenty of natural talent, and if she could get more weight behind her shots she could develop a fairly solid all-court game. I don't think she will ever be top 10 like some people, but spells in the top 20 aren't out of her reach.

I wouldn't call her a poor man's Kournkiova and I do believe she can enter the top 10 in some point of her career. However, she's too inconsistent at times and makes unneccessary errors.

She can play aggressively. She can hit winners. When I saw her matches in Kolkata, I still believed in her but it confirmed it for me. When she is confident, she strikes the ball so well and doesn't really miss anything.

I think Masha has the drive and talent to grow even more as a player. She'll bounce back from this hopefully :p

Good job, Tamira. :) Good luck in SF. :rocker2:

C'mon Tamira, now beat Davenport!

Only one serve-game for the opponents in the last two matches ;). Just the own serve has to get better a little bit.

You'll have a great future Mimi :)
