Anyways Loic isn't Mats. I mean Mats is a great champion and is good at playing, not really at coaching apparently (He also failed with PHM). Tati told after AI that Courteau was very impressive, that she could just listen to him etc. Mats was just  Well he looked nice but not impressive at all.
I hope he learns Tati stay fit, to eat properly, to hit great volleys like she did in Amelia Island, to be a fighter and not a choker like Amélie !

i really hope the Tati and Loic partnership becomes full time, he would be so good for her.

There is a new article in today's Léquipe and Tati and Courteau started training yesterday in Roland Garros. They're gonna see if Tati's back is ok and they should keep on working together during 2 weeks, then they'll see.

SO Tati will come back in Sydney if everything is ok, she will have a no. 20 protected ranking for 6 tournaments, but she will use it only if it is really needed and will try to play some qualies. And she should have the whole Momo staff with her now.

Are you sure of that?amélie staff was composed of loic courteau(coach), michel franco(kine) and remi barbarin for physical training;so tatiana has contacts with them and decided to hire them?

well i like tati but the day she will have the same career as amélie(double slam winner,YEC champion,n°1 ranking and + 25 titles) she would be very very happy;
at tati age amélie already reached a slam finale ,the competition was much more hight than today with high class champions(hingis, williams, davenport, capriati, clijs ters, henin)

i hope for tati to have the same career as this choker of amélie, really!:p:wavey:

yeah good from tatiana but it was mixte double, nothing to compare to single.

The carrer of a player is not determined from her coach, tati will work with loic but nothing can assure that it will be huge success; she has much work to do to become elite player and win a slam.
I hope for her to be able to win it one day but its not sure at all!

and perhaps have a better carrer than amelie, anything is impossible in tennis but dont have false ideas about this collaboration with loic courteau. He will help her to become better and get experience of big events but the slams its only players who win it.She is alone on the court, we'll see how good she'll do.;)

Of course we all know that, we're just excited Tati has a great coach that can teach her a lot. She's known for changing coaches a lot and she always had a great relationship with Loic, so I hope this could last. It's all in her hands, but with the help of the right people she could go far. That's what we're talking about. :p

As for Amelie, if Tati ever has a career like that I would be so thrilled. :hearts:

Her back has always been a viral disease I think. Which is why there are times when she feels 100% better only to find out 2 weeks later that it hurts like shit again. I think they's why she's taking medication for it. It isn't a musicular injury like when she broke her ankle.

Well she probably just felt pain and assumed it was a muscular thing. Thats why in that interview on GA she refers to a wrong diagnosis at first. Viruses are so unpredictable and they take long to get rid of, thats the reason she's felt well enough to enter these events only after 2 or 3 weeks to feel rock bottom again. I guess im just making a lot of assumptions about this but it's probably what it is. I wish the bitch woould talk to us though. :o

Slutiana
Nov 18th, 2008, 09:19 PM
Also, I'm confused what was that surgery for then?
You lot are clueless. :haha: :spit:

Ok, so in April or something, Tati had a cyst in her hip. She had surgery to remove it. She also contracted appendicitis (don't have a clue what it is) so her appendix was taken out. We thought she would be back quickly and that would be the end of it but she withdrew in Cagnes because she was still feeling stomach pains from the surgery - nothing big. In Germany she came back again and had to call for the trainer before limping out due to her back, we thought it was just muscular or to do with the surgery - then we found out she had to take medication for a back inflammation and it became clear that she had contracted a virus between then and the time she spent in hospital.

Since then she's been taking medication and it seems that one day she's great and then two weeks later shes bad again, and it's gone in cycles ever since - hence all the entering and withdrawing from tournies. I don't really know much about Viruses or any of that so im just assuming from what i've hear a lot of people say.

News in today's Lequipe !

Tati has nothing to announce so her manager spoke for her.
Tati just lives day by day and is still strong-minded.

She would have (this is not sure) a genetic disease or something.. which can't be healed, so if she keeps on playing, she will have an up and down career, the doctor says.

spondylarthrite ankylosante is the french name of that crap.

And yeah Tati will be in Sport Illustrated, she will make a photoshoot in december in Dominican Republic in the special swimsuit 2009 edition I think, that should be bought about 50 million times.. That's what we know.

Slutiana
Nov 19th, 2008, 04:16 PM
Oh no. :sobbing: A fucking genetic disease... At least its not deadly. :o

I looked it up a bit further and this is what i've found:

When AS has been present for several months the back may stiffen, usually lower down; and in some patients the disease then dies out, causing no further trouble. The stiff back is often painless and does not interfere with physical activity, because the upper part of the spine, the neck, hips and limbs can remain quite normal. If you feel stiff in the early morning this is a sign of inflammation and perhaps it may be an hour or so before you have properly limbered up – it may indicate the need for anti-inflammatory drugs.
In its early stages AS causes considerable pain, but effective treatment is available to relieve this, even though the discomfort is not always banished. In some people the disease becomes much less active, or even ceases completely. In others the disease continues to be active, causing pain and stiffness. At first you will most probably be able to carry on with your work and lead a normal life. Later you may find it difficult to continue in the same job.

:sob: If people can't even do their day-to-day jobs then how the fuck is Tati ment to play in one of the most pysically demanding sports in the world. :sobbing:

We just have to hope that she's one of the lucky one who's disease just dies out. :sobbing:

I at least expected her to start the 09 season, and was so excited for it.

But I think we should just wait and see, she still hasn't announced it herself so I guess until then we should just wait it out. I just hope more than anything that comes out of the dark to tell everyone that it's not true and she will be back. Pllleeeeaaassseee.

Time didn't heal our poor Tati so that's pretty logical she thinks about giving up, what else could she do? The source of her troubles triggers everything but optimism and there is so much more to do for our Tatiana outside of tennis!

Still, it's so hard to believe her aventure is over. So many efforts realized since a young age just to be destroyed by injuries & disease ... Had she retired without winning a title, it would have really terrible. At least she proved people how good she could be, she won't have any regret on this. We went through so many emotions thanks to her, so thank you Tati :sad:.

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but I think that quote is from one of her older interviews... At least she said somethig similar when she announced she was ending the 2008 season...I also saw this same quote a few days ago in one of the French articles.

Some people in the tennis world were talking about a retirement.. I am too young to retire now. If I had had these problems at 27 or 28, it could have been the case. At 20 years old, there is no way I stop now. Perhaps we have lost some time at the beginning with wrong diagnosis, but I am not dying !
I dunno, this is all so frustrating. And no, e5dawsonj she hasn't retired...yet.

What a mess  ...

The only bad thing is that Tatiana has not found a way to cure this illness so even if she keeps playing, will she ever be able to get back to her best level with such a handicap? Waiting won't really help her cause, she needs to find a solution. I don't want her to retire but I don't want her to come back just to play 2months and stop again because of this pain in her back.

She says that the day she retire, it will be announced by herself and none else (like these stupid medias). "I havent played for a year so it's easy to say I'm going to retire." "I stay completely hopeful to play again. It will be in a few weeks, months or even one year. But as for now my career isn't over."

"We have more or less found the solution as far as my back is concerned. Now we need time [...] "

"The day I will stop, I will announce it and without any exterior influence. It will happen in 10, 5 or even 1 year, none knows. But I'm definitely still a professional tennis player."

I'll try to translate it. :)

"As I have hardly played in the past year, it is easy to say that: "Golovin will retire." However, I can tell you right away that this is not the case. I have had back pain for a long time (it says always but I dunno if thats right in english?), but I am still confident that I will pick up a racket again. This could be in a few weeks, a few months or in a year, but my career is not over. I have more or less found a solution to my back, now I need to be patient because my body needs rest to unwind and also because the treatment takes time before there is any improvement. During the season, I was probably wrong to want to return so quickly, and every time, it was a failure. So I have to take my time, and be patient. I could not make Loic Courteau wait indefinatly for me to get fit. But just because Loïc will work with Paul-Henri Mathieu, it does not mean that I'll stop tennis. I am going through a difficult period, definatly, it's not funny when you are unable to play (are inactive) while the others play, especially when I was so close to the top 10 earlier this year (12th February) and my goal is to get into the top 10 and win Roland Garros, but I am still positive and hopeful because I know time is on my side. The day I will hang up my rackets, I will announce it myself, and it will be my decision, free of any outside influence. It could happen in ten years, in five years or next year, no one knows. But for now, I am and I intend to remain as much of a tennis player as i have ever been."

Thank you. :) I tried to translate it up there but I didn't get some of the words and changed a lot of the phrases so that they are proper English sayings but to be honest, this still makes perfect sense. Your English is much better than you think. :p

Wurzelman isn't it about time to change your avatar and get a Tati one :p
This guy looks like Ljubicic

:)You certainly have a point - I've been on here for quite a while but there are so many good pics of Tat that I wouldn't know where to start.:D Also the avatars are so small these days :(I like being able to keep my big one.

It's great to see that Tati is still somehow holding on to hope, but does anyone really see her playing beyond a couple of years, particularly if the treatment is unsuccessful? I want to stay positive, but it really seems unlikely she'll ever have even a full season in her career, beyond 2004. :sobbing:

But wouldn't it be amaze if it did work and she was able to prevent anymore injuries. :hearts:

Frenchy, in the e-mail did Tati allude to how long the break from tennis would be? I'll be interested to see if she's already withdrawn from the Aussie tournies when the lists come out in the coming days.

EDIT: Just re-read the translation. :p So it's basically up in the air for now. I doubt she'll make an attempt at the AO, but who knows?

I really don't think she'll come back...like ever. I know she says they pretty much found the solution for her back, but she's been saying that since March. I really hope I'm wrong, but how can she possibly play proffessional tennis again if she has Ankylosing Spondylitis? I read that Wikipedia link Frenchy posted and it sounds really bad. I just don't want to get my hopes up.

I'm so negative. Please prove me wrong, Tati. :sobbing:

:weirdo: Stop being negative. :o Didn't you also see that link which said that sometimes it can just disappear and never trouble the person again. We just have to hope that Tati is one of the lucky ones. She's due some luck.

No Dav, a good fan is a positive fan.

There's no point of predicting retiremement when we haven't heard a word out of her mouth. Until she says that she's retiring, she's still a tennis player to me.

Yesterday there was a French Tv at Samir's (and Tati's ?) appartment in London all the evening, to interview him and talk abt his career, and I couldn't watch it but apparently she wasn't there :( I don't even know if they mentioned her

And I'm really worried about the SI photoshoot ! We're gonna look ridiculous again (well, once more on once less..) if she isn't on it :(

well, the SI photoshoot was mentioned in l'equipe first so we shouldn't look ridiculous. it's not like we're imagining things for tati to do.

anyway, her whole body has always been ridiculous.
