Be optimistica bout Serena, had it not been for her injuries she would have had a good second half as well. Loosing to Justine when not 100 % is fine, and at RG Justine came out on her A game and Serena was at about B-.

for Serena
BEST: AO final (could have won all the majors if she had played like she did in that match)
WORST: RG QF. Still, as far as I know Serena was healthy here, she should have done better.

JUSTINE
BEST: Wimby QF though Serena was injured she was still very tough, Justine held it together.
WORST: Wimby SF

VENUS
BEST: Wimbledon 4r. Looked very superior to Sharapova, this match gave her the confidence to win the title.
WORST: Health woes 2nd week of USO. It's clear Venus wasn't feeling well at all in the SF and she still made it very close to Justine.

MARIA
BEST: Getting to the finals of AO after almost being out in the 1r
WORST: Won 5 games against SErena in 2 matches....USO.

I would say Serena had a good year, because although she didn't have anything huge past Miami, its not like she had bad losses. If you don't include retirements, she lost to Schnyder on clay 7-6 in the third, Justine x 3, Kuznetsova, and Dementieva. Thats pretty consistent with her post 2003 and pre 2002 losses.

As for Venus, her losses to Rezai, Razzano, and Penetta are ludicrous, but who cares she has WImbledon.

Ivanovic had some awful losses this year... plus her chokes that were really badChoking is wasting a big lead and collapsing when about to close out the match. Ana doesn't choke, sometimes she's never into the match.

Not only. Sometimes choke is when you just don't play free and that's what happens to her when she plays against Venus..She can't force her game on Venus like she does in other matches.

So, you're saying that Daniela had a better year than Justine :p
I am not him but I don't think he is say that, that would be dumn. But I think he was saying it great win juju wins, but since she win all the time, its like the world stops when she loses. When Dani wins it great because she had such bad season the past few year, and it not a big deal when she lose do to the fact that she has nothing to live up to.

1. Justine Henin
Best - winning the US Open, defeating both Serena and Venus en route.
Worst - Wimbledon semi-final loss.

2. Svetlana Kuznetsova

Worst - Losing 5 of her 6 finals.

3. Jelena Jankovic
Best - Breaking the top 3 in the rankings.
Worst - Making the ridiculous decision of flying to Bangkok mid-way through the European indoors and burning herself out for the YECs.

4. Ana Ivanovic
Best - Reaching her first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros.
Worst - Losing to Yan Zi in the opening match of her Toronto defence.

5. Maria Sharapova
Best - Getting to the YEC final with some superb performances before succumbing to Justine in tumultuous battle.
Worst - The US Open loss against Radwanska - the shoulder wasn't to blame, she was simply making error after error.

6. Anna Chakvetadze

Worst - Played her part in creating the worst Grand Slam semi it has been my displeasure to witness.

7. Serena Williams
Best - Proving everyone wrong and triumphing at the Australian Open with an outstanding performance in the final.
Worst - The tame RG loss to Justine - where was the hunger? Or getting handed 2 breadsticks by Dementieva in Moscow.
