Which two players have had the best doubles rivalries, despite their partners. Davenport and Sanchez-Vicario come to mind.
Or, which teams have been rivals?
Just a cute little thread.

I think Hingis and Davenport had a great doubles rivalry, especially in the late 90's when they faced off in numerous GS and Tour finals. Doubles H2H's are incredibly hard to compile so I cant think of much else off the top of my head.

Yeah Hingis-Davenport had a great rivalry against each other in doubles (although Hingis won the Slam finals:fiery:) lol but they were mostly very good matches. The 90's had so many great names around always switching partners so any match was a good one. Novotna, Zvereva, Gigi Fernandez, Kournikova, Sukova and many more. All of them had good rivalries.

Hingis led Davenport 14-5 in their doubles matches inlcuding four straight GS finals in '98.

Well there ya go! Still, I think their singles rivalry carried over into the doubles court and they had lots of great matches.

Current good rivalry is Black/Huber vs. Sugiyama/Srebotnik
The latter team only did really well against the first one at the GS's, not in the other tournaments mostly.

Martina/partner beat Natasha/Lindsay in all four GS finals in 98 plus AO99 final. :sobbing:
Natasha was also finalist in USO97 (Novotna/Davenport bt Zvereva/G. Fernandez 6-4 6-3). Her best results after AO99 final were semi-finals at Wimbledon99 (with Jana) and 2000 (with Kournikova, losing to Venus/Serena)
I also liked Kournikova/Rubin when they played together at Wimbledon one year.

not really, head to head was 2-2, with their meetings in GS going to the Williams Sisters. Also they had more of a rivalry with Kournikova, almost every slam they won they had to play Anna and someone.
