Common and Serena were spotted getting a little friendly at Venus’ launch party last week for her EleVen clothing line. For some reason we’re not sure about this one:

“They were very friendly, arm-in-arm. She looked great,” said a spy. “All night they were sitting together. They were keeping it cool, but you could tell Common likes himself some Serena. I asked a friend of his and was told they are dating.”

First it’s Kerry Washington, and now it’s Serena Williams. Williams did play a small role in Common’s video “I Want You”. We were feeling Serena and Jackie Long as a couple.

New couple alert: Serena Williams & Common

TENNIS titan Serena Williams, who last dated director Brett Ratner, has a new man. The 2003 Wimbledon champ, dressed in a shiny baby-doll dress, was spotted holding hands and getting “very close” with rapper Common last week at Tenjune during a party for her sister Venus. “They were very friendly, arm-in-arm. She looked great,” said a spy. “All night they were sitting together. They were keeping it cool, but you could tell Common likes himself some Serena. I promise you, Common could probably get her clothes off with his rhymes.

Who the hell is that?

Same question a lot of people would ask.....so I typed in his name and this is what I found!

Following the release of Be in 2005, several mixed-race artists from the UK hip-hop scene took exception to Common's racist comments about interracial relationships on the song "Real People", and in an interview. The situation started out with an article from UK's Touch magazine, in which he stated "When you see dreadlocked dudes with white girls that’s like they going against what the dreadlock’s purpose was."[10] Seeing a personal insult in the remarks, Yungun, Doc Brown (rapper) and Rising Son recorded a track over an instrumental version of "The Corner" named "Dear Common (The Corner Dub)". Common states that he has heard of the track but never actually taken the time to listen to it, and has not retaliated in song.[11] Common was accused of making bigoted statements during a concert at Emory University in 2006, when he rapped about his certainty that "damn ******s from Duke lacrosse" had raped a "black princess," a reference to Crystal Gail Mangum, who had accused three white Duke University lacrosse players of rape.[12] The charges were dismissed before the case went to trial.

I think the guy has issues!

It's funny RVD because of all the posters on here you take the words of your friends and family as the truth.
You wouldn't happen to have an opinion of your own in that body of yours now would ya?

Ethnic-related issues?
He said the same damn thing about the Duke Lacrosse players that many posters including you said.
And I have no problem with a black man or a black women, especially a black women having an issue with some black men going after white women when there are some good black women out there.
I might not totally agree with it but I understand where that point-of-view is coming from.

To lose respect from someone who doesn't agree with you on certain issues just seems silly.
To me it just show you really didn't have respect for that person in the first place.

Me I really like Common.
I've always like his musical approach at fusing musical styles with socially conscious issues.
And I feel his stance on knowing your HIV status has saved lives.

Common's beauty in his art is that he's human. He's had issues with race and sexuality and he's come out on top, realizing his errors, and trying to become a better man for it.

He's not perfect. And I like that he can accept it.

On the HIV thing, I never thought he'd had it before, and I doubt he does. If so, then he clearly knows what he's doing and he wouldn't pass it on to whomever he's dating.

I didnt about Common being prejudiced. But I remember hearing a rumor of black supremacism emanating from the mouth of Mz. Hill. Common has satisfied his diversity quota with his hook up presently with Lily Allen. I quite like Common's music, he's got a classic soul vibe to his flow, like Jaheim. Lauryn Hill is ok too. But FLOETRY are the best! :)

Anyways Common and Serena is a beautifu thing. But can you believe what you read in the New York Post?! A stable love-interest will have Serena chillin. Cos her attitude after the US Open defeat was none too pretty innit.

PS. Who's Jackie? Serena was dating a girl?

Serena Williams has a tights malfunction - on a night out with her new man
by DONNA McCONNELL - More by this author »

Last updated at 13:48pm on 26th November 2007

Comments

Tennis champ Serena Williams obviously didn't plan on being caught by the snapper's lens, or she probably wouldn't have chosen to be photographed while wearing a ropey old laddered pair of tights.

Just what misfortune had befallen Serena to cause such a catastrophic effect to her leg garment was unclear.

And as she hurried into her hotel, with her head down, she clearly looked embarassed at being caught in a state of disrepair.

Scroll down for more...

http://i029.radikal.ru/0711/56/d8ae7e16fd7a.jpg

The 26-year-old reigning Australian Open champ was seen returning from a night out with rumoured new beau, rapper Common, to her swanky St. Martin's Lane hotel, in London's West End.

But her normally slick look was ruined by the highly-visible ladders which, unfortunately, started at the knee of her black opaque tights.

It appears that Serena and Grammy award nominee Common, 35, who has duetted with singer Lily Allen, and appears in new Denzel Washington film American Gangster, are an item.

The pair - who appeared together in Common's latest video I Want You - were spotted holding hands recently and getting "very close" at a party hosted for her sister Venus Williams, to celebrate the launch of her clothing line 'Eleven', at popular New York nighclub Tenjune.

A source revealed that the couple were sitting together the whole night and didn't try to conceal their growing closeness.

"They were very friendly, arm-in-arm. All night they were sitting together," a source told the New York Post.

"I asked a friend of his and was told they are dating," the source added.

Serena Williams previously dated director Brett Ratner, but the romance came to an abrupt end after he spent a week partying in New York with Sean 'P Diddy' Combs, Jay-Z And Jermaine Dupri, and she became frustrated with Ratner always being away from her.

Serena and sister Venus will team up to play doubles at the Australian Open in January, organisers said.

The pair have not played doubles at the Australian Open since they won the title for the second time in three years in 2003.

Serena isn't looking too good there. Nor is Venus...

Yes I agree totally. Venus is usually the epitome of glamour off-court, but that look ages her by about 10 years; as for Serena, I'm thinking Wesley Snipes in To Wong Foo!!!

It's funny RVD because of all the posters on here you take the words of your friends and family as the truth.
You wouldn't happen to have an opinion of your own in that body of yours now would ya? Wow.
I don't know how to quite respond to this because I'm not entirely sure what the question is. Or maybe it was a statement?
Anyway, I believe my brother because he was, ummm...there and held a conversation [or tried to..] with Common?
Ethnic-related issues?
He said the same damn thing about the Duke Lacrosse players that many posters including you said.
And I have no problem with a black man or a black women, especially a black women having an issue with some black men going after white women when there are some good black women out there.
I might not totally agree with it but I understand where that point-of-view is coming from. I have no idea what you are referring to. Would you mind embellishing a bit? Particularly how Common and I share identical views. For the record, Common isn't in to mixed raced marriages. And my wife is Mexican. So again,
To lose respect from someone who doesn't agree with you on certain issues just seems silly.
To me it just show you really didn't have respect for that person in the first place.Okay, so now I can't lose respect for someone who I discover holds exclusionary views as Common does?
What does that say about the rest of the world? I'm no different than you or anyone else in this respect.
If we desire to be accepted, then we must also be capable of accepting the [ethnic] differences in others. Otherwise, we are no better than the typical hypocrite we claim others to be. :)
Me I really like Common.
I've always like his musical approach at fusing musical styles with socially conscious issues.
And I feel his stance on knowing your HIV status has saved lives.Good for you. Know try hitting up on the brother and I bet he surprises you with his views on homosexuality.

If Denise is even agreeing with me, then you should know just to give it up.
I've tried to hold conversations with tennis players and in some cases got nothing.
It doesn't mean now, I think they're an asshole.
It means that they are busy. Not everyone has the time to talk to someone even if they support them.
Your brother was suppose to be doing a job by the way and talking to Common wasn't part of the job description, sweetie, unless it was "right this way, Common", "thru this door Common".

I'm not embellishing anything. Everyone else got it besides you. Get with the program.

It's not about losing respect, it's about trying to understand and keep an open-mind about where he is coming from as a black man or which is possible in case, the defense of the black women thru an example of the black man.
That's why I mentioned that I understand where's he's coming from BUT I don't fully agree with him.
I don't have to agree with him to respect him.

Serena doesn't have to agree with him to respect him.
Honestly he has the same stance on interracial marriage/relationships probably as her father.
And regardless of that she will never lose respect in a man, who believed in her when noone else would.
She might have some beliefs as he does and might have different beliefs, and that's fine because they're different people.
She'll never be dissapointed to the point where she loses respect for him and vice versa.

I'm showing this as an example, to maybe help you understand why everyone understands what I'm talking about besides you.
That's why I mentioned if you lost respect for him like that, you probably didn't have that much respect for him in the first place.

And that's fine about his stance on homosexuality.
I holler at people who I know are interested. I don't need to make the first move.
The point is if I didn't listen to an artist music because of their stance on homosexuality, I really would have nothing to listen to but dance music.

If Denise is even agreeing with me, then you should know just to give it up. Why are you suddenly hiding behind Denise's sweet cheeks? :o :p And I hella respect Denise's opinions, and usually we see pretty much the same thing. However, You mentioned that I had the same view as Common on in respect to the Duke case. Personally, I never read his opinion and so could not speak to it. That is why I asked you to embellish. but if you don't want to then cool.
It means that they are busy. Not everyone has the time to talk to someone even if they support them.
Your brother was suppose to be doing a job by the way and talking to Common wasn't part of the job description, sweetie, unless it was "right this way, Common", "thru this door Common".What exactly does a tennis player have in 'common' with a rapper? Common is supposed to be this educated brutha, but presents himself differently in private [as most celebrities do]. Are you sure you're not just making excuses for him? As for my brother, am I to understand that you know him better than I do? His job required him to protect and escort celebrities, and believe it or not, that requires conversation. Jeez! Why am I bothering with this.
I'm not embellishing anything. Everyone else got it besides you. Get with the program.I answered this above.

Common and his odd beliefs aren't worth debating anyway. :scared:

Bottom line...
If Serena is cool with 'the faker', then so be it.

I wonder what happened to her tights? I don't see any carpet burns though. :p

Do you think Serena was trying to make a fashion statement? I've seen ripped holes in stockings before as part of an outfit. Maybe it was done intentionally?

I thought this was just another rumor but I guess Serena and Jackie are OVER. Is it me or is Serena and Common matching? This must be serious, oh lord.

I don't know about Serena kicking his ass because I see "the glow" on Common's face. He's got to be dehydrated after tussling with Serena. The big water bottle and glossy lips gives it away every time. Damn, I'm jealous!:lol:

A little tidbit that was just printed on Bossip.com about this newsome twosome. ;)

Common had a performance Monday night in Barcelona, Spain, and a loyal Bossip reader tells us that Serena was in the audience and Common keep looking at her giving her some love glares.

A source has also confirmed to us that the two are indeed dating and definitely a couple. Serena’s relationship with Jackie Long was more along the friendship terms and Jackie really couldn’t handle all the attention that Serena received from other men.
