it's generally agreed that Jankovic over-achieved this year finishing at #3. We can speculate what will be her results next year, can she manage to repeat such a season or is she headed for a crash.

She deserves being #3 more than any other player!:hearts:
She reached only one Grand Slam semifinal...so with her better seeding now there's even much more she can do next year!!!:lick:

She should be in the top five for sure. If Kuzzy can be number two she can be top five.

Where and whom agreed that Jelena over-achieved? Was there a poll? If there was, do you mind posting the link for the poll? thanks :)

Henin, Sharapova, Kuznetsova, and Ivanovic should be above her in the rankings. Should. So I'd say about #5. #6 if Amelie somehow becomes herself again.

Sounds about right to me.

I'd say 4-6. Depends a lot of the injuries of players next year.
Like Mauresmo, Sharapova and maybe Davenport as well.

I'd say like #6-7. She is a consistant player and I don't think there will be a big fall.
I think it depends especially how Henin, the Williams, Sharapova will do.

A totally inappropriate poll.
To say 7-10 where she belongs????????????????????????????????
You must be objective when doing this.

And she shouldn't have ended this year as the third player in the world if she hadn't deserved it. Somebody else played for her???

I'll be surprised if she's higher than #5. I wouldn't be surprised if she's out of top10.

I think she can finish next year in the Top 5 but she needs a better scheduling. I hope she'll keep the promise to play less tournaments in 2008.

She will have a drop to say around 6-9 I think that is more her true ranking.

With a better schedule I'm confident JJ will remain top 5.

She will need to find that little bit extra in her game though.

Turning some of those big, close 2007 defeats into wins next season. A slightly more offensive approach perhaps allied to the greater all-round consistency.

I'm sure she will stay on course, and backup a good 2007 with an even better 2008. she is a real deal, and some people here really need to get over it. she started playing tennis pretty late (at 8 years old), but she is very talented, reads the game very well, and runs around the court like hell. if she fixes her serve, she has an even better chances in 2008. of course with a much lighter schedule. ana recently said she plans to play even less tournaments in 2008, as she wants to progress further to higher stages of those she plays. I hope Jelena will do the same.

Well she has a ton of points to defend, then if you factor in that Mauresmo, Davenport, Sharapova stay healthy, i'd say the second half of the top 10 for her.

Hoping for 4-6. ^^

I'd say in the 5-8 range.

She needs to beef up her serve and do well in the slams.

if she improves her serve i reckon she could get to no. 2, but ivanovic is her main challenger

She has been struggling since Wimbledon and a lot of players have figured her out.Next year will be a struggle for sure and she has lost a lot of confidence with all those losses specially from that young gal Szavay Bartoli Justine and Ana.
