I was actualy thinking about so different scorelines. She was almost blown away in QF, She was bageled in SF, but was able to came back and in final she had lost just 1 game for one of the shortest final ever

I think it was the same tournament when one player won the first six games, lost the next 10 and won the last six it makes 60 46 60

this theory doesnt stand. In this case result should be 60 06 64

Didn't Capriati also win the Pilot Pen with a whole host of retirements. I hate the fact that the tourneys prior to a grand slam have an oversupply of injuries

IMO the weirdest when the opponent walked over in the final such as;

Hingis def. Graf @ 1997 TPP
S.Williams def. Davenport @ 2001 YEC

very pathetic and unsportmanship from both players who retired :o

After this match Lindsay didn't played until stanford 2002... I think it was a serious injury?

And I suppose that retired from a match after being down 6-0 3-0 isn't unsportmanship?

how come she had that serious injury if she managed to win SF? falling from the bed @ the night before?
retired at 06 03 down is unsportmanship as well (though i don't know whom you were talking about) but at least the loser showed up in the match.

You're obviously retarded and know nothing about tennis before 2005. In the Semis Lindsay played Kim, and I think had a MP that was overruled/called out when it was in. The VERY NEXT point Lindsay chased down a drop shot to win the match and injured her foot/knee really badly.

This is a shaky account so if anyone has extra details fix it, I just remember watching it on TV and then hearing about her withdrawl over the radio.

The next moring when she woke up the injury was probably to serious to be able to play. The fact is that you are talkshiting about two great players who didn't have to retired from a match as often as a lot player do today. And I was talking about Serena at Zurich this year...

You are clearly mistaken on this to consider Lindsay pathetic and unsportmenlike. Lindsay didn't play for half a year after this, I THINK she was injured:rolleyes: The world number 1 wouldn't have just given up on a final she was certain to win if her injury wasen't serious.

Lindsay was already injured in the Semifinal, but she won the Tie-Break against Clijsters 8-6 i believe ... i was live in Munich and i saw no final :banghead: :fiery: I got to see a Exhibition between Anke Huber and Serena. Williams won 8-6.

And Paola/Vivi were injured too

What would you have preferred, Lindsay to play 3 games and quit

Yeah, the crowd would have loved that :o That injury messed Lindsay up just when she claimed the #1 rank again, so I think her withdrawal was understandable...

lol it isn't about the curse. it's just the tournament before a grand slam. noone wants and cares to fight when they are in the such situation.
