the returning Lindsay Davenport who makes a welcome return after a long spell out injured is now in action in the Standford tournament in California. Hopefully she can have a great result here and can win another tiltle after the long break. And, the most important, she's now has the chance to win the US Open again! :bounce:

let's all pray for her!

yup, the 2 wins in Fed Cup this weekend should boost her confidence going into Stanford and the hard court season! 6-3, 6-3 over Anna Smashnova and 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 over ??? !:) very impressive considering this is her first real competition since November!

First match won against Anna Smashnova 6-3 6-3
Second match won against Tzipora Oblizer 2-6 6-1 7-6(1)

Oblizer gave a fight and was surprised she is WTA ranked #287!

The 2 Fed Cup wins should definitely give her confidence for her first WTA event of the year. I don't think we can expect her to win this but I am hoping for a reasonable run for her, say quarters or semis! What do the rest of you think?

The draw is not too bad although maybe Dokic might prove a problem or Clijsters whilst Lindsay is still rusty.

Rita Grande will most likely get to the 2nd round to meet Davenport, but she is more of a clay court specialist and is a bit out of her element on hard court. then in the QUARTERS our fave will most likely face Jelena Dokic. if Jelena can't beat Lindsay now in Stanford when she is rusty and just coming back form injury, then i don't think she'll ever beat her!lol! Lindsay owns Dokic, winning all 6 of their career meetings, but now is Jelena's best chance of finally beating her! in the SEMIS Linzi could run into defending champion Kim Clijsters, who is still suffering from shoulder injury. also Daja Bedanova is a threat to reach the SEMIS, cuz she has been red hot as of late. in the FINALS, either Venus, Monica, or Justine will be waiting for her.

a difficult road for Lindsay, but i agree that she should be happy with a QUARTER or SEMI result! good luck, girl!;)
