Bali and Quebec City is Tier III and Auckland is Tier IV but is the strongest field of all Tier IV events.

Davenport beat all of them with double bagels? ;) I don't think this would help them to gain experience :p

May I just remind you all that the ASB Classic usually has the best Tier IV field on the Wta tour. Often its as good or better than the average Tier III event.

This year we had Dani, Marion, Vera, Myskina and of course Jankovic all here. In previous years we've had Mary Pierce, Paola Suarez and who could forget the beautiful Anna Kournikova.

No surprise, Auckland is always one of the best tournament in the year.

Ditto yourself

I just think Lindsay should be playing against the harder competition and not sponging off the lower tier event...she theoretically should of played in Sydney...she love it there and she plays the tourney so well and she would of have stronger competetion - didnt she say thats what she come back for? ;) I see her player in the weaker Auckland, as kinda chickening out from the big girls at the top.

Oh and my pervious post was a joke lol ;) I actually commend Auckland for getting the players they do, considering their tier status :p

Consider the top 8 seeds of both then...

3. Hantuchova - #17
4. Bartoli - #18
5. Zvonareva - #24
6. Muller - #34
7. Daniilidou #36
8. Perry - #44

Gold Coast
1. Hingis - #7
2. Safina - #11
3. Ivanovic - #13
4. Groenefeld - #19
5. Peer - #20
6. Li - #26
7. Srebotnik - #23
8. Sugiyama - #26

Auckland top 8
#12-#44

Gold Coast top 8
#7-#26 (incl top10 player and mutliple GS winner)

I mean overall. The tournament as an overall package, stadium, people, the whole package. Another thing, lets look at where the players are now, Jankovic, Hantuchova, Bartoli. All have been in the top 10 this year ;)

It really doesn't matter what the level of the tournament is it's more important for Lindsay to play two weeks before the OZ open. One thing that has impressed me about Lindsay comeback apart from her play is the way she gone abput planning it and this is smart planning.

Sydney is a week later than Auckland so it makes sense for her to want to have a week of recooperation. I don't think it's fair to level at her that she's shying away from playing the big guns; she'll be playing the Australian Open and will almost certainly draw a big gun very early on. I think it's better for Lindsay to play a tournement she can get into by virtue of her ranking than relying on wildcards... would you question another player ranked at 74 playing Auckland?

I have no complaints about Davenport playing Tier IVs, especially considering that she won just one title in all of '02-'03.

 Guys. Come on. I'm not one of the most vocal Lindsay fans around but she's my #3 player. Couldn't anyone tell I was just taking the piss out of the morons who complained Venus was playing low-level events?

I think it's a great idea, which is why I put in also I hope it's a Dementieva/Davenport final. Why do I bother. :o
