Really impressive. :worship:

Longest match losing streak of 2, that's great.

The head-to-heads against those top players are remarkable -- the only player who could be said to have dominated Martina by those statistics is Graf.

Winning one or two more of those GS finals would have altered her career trajectory, imo.

But an amazing career nonetheless!

Amazing all-around career. None of the girls in this generation can say they were #1 in singles and doubles at the same time. NONE.

Also, winning tournaments with 13 different partners is just phenominal.

Amazing all-around career. None of the girls in this generation can say they were #1 in singles and doubles at the same time. NONE.

Actually, Davenport and Clijsters both were #1 in singles and doubles simultaneously.

I'm not a Hingis fan but this is a great tribute to one of the best players of all time. Thank you so much.

Even her terrible 2007 season didn't tarnish her singles legacy TOO much, it seems.

The true tennis fans will remember her incredible tennis talent and all her achievements:) Her comeback was definitely worth it, hopefully she'll keep fighting to clear her name, she has to. But her champion status will never disappear:worship:

She really was one of a kind. The fact that she could even replicate her singles success on the doubles court as well is just phenomenal.

Nov 3rd, 2007, 01:54 PM
When Martina was playing such a great tennis and being number for very long
time, it was possible that she was also using drugs. During those days
such control as now was not in force so no one could really know exactly was behind her week in and week out tournaments.
If you look at her body structure, she is not physical. Base on this one
would expect that she plays fewer tournaments compared to the more physical
ones, Serena or Mauresmo. But she played more tournaments than any of the
peer, Venus, Serena, Mauresmo, Davenport or Capriati. I don't know why
some people may be very surprised at her announcement

I'm glad she cameback and showed to world that even unfit, powerless and insecure Marina Hingis is stll TOP 10 player!!! Good bye my one and only 'Bitch Queen'!!!

One and Only! The queen of kicking ass.

But she was at the receiving end in the most famous ass kicking of the open era - Roland Garros final 1999.

égalité
Nov 3rd, 2007, 05:24 PM
And people say she was a tournament hog. She's never played more than 20 tournaments in a season! She was #1 for 4 years because she consistently made the finals and semifinals of almost EVERY tournament she played. No one else in this generation was that dominant for that long.

She's amazing :worship:

I love every minute of the amazing tennis she showed over the years. Her offcourt behaviour also. She was a pro with capital P.

The fact that she only lost in the first round 12 times in her ENTIRE career just amazes me. :speakles:

A true champion. It's a shame she'll likely be remembered more for why she ended her career (a second time) than what she actually did in her career...at least to those of us who aren't her dedicated fans.

At least her melt-down in the 99 FO final won't be what will be remembered most about her now ....
