Oct 30th, 2007, 09:02 PM
Olympics, :yeah:

Oh yeah I totally forgot about that one, thank you:)

Oct 30th, 2007, 09:14 PM
I would love for Serena to play Fed cup this year...

Oct 30th, 2007, 09:39 PM
She always plays Miami if she is healthy too...thats virtually a given since she is about 50m away from it and its mandatory.
Nearly always Los Angeles too. And she likes Rome warump to YEC. and YEC if she makes it.

Oct 30th, 2007, 09:53 PM
Yeh Miami is virtually a yes, or at least should be!!
But Santhuruu, u mentioned Fed Cup, are u jsut guessing...?

Oct 30th, 2007, 10:18 PM
I would put Rome in there. If she is healthy and playing during the clay season she will play in Rome, she loves it there.

I think I'm going to find a throwback, too ;)

Nov 16th, 2007, 08:00 AM
I would say she will play Charleston, Rome, Miami, Toronto, Moscow, Zurich, the 4 GS, Olympics then if she qualifies, YEC.

Nov 16th, 2007, 09:45 AM
i think she will try LA before she tries Toronto just because she likes it in LA

Nov 16th, 2007, 09:58 AM
Oh yeah, probably.

Nov 17th, 2007, 03:18 AM
I just hope she plays a schedule that she can enjoy and not get injured?

Nov 17th, 2007, 08:44 AM
well this year's only injuries were her groin and the one at the end...the flu stopped her between the AO and Miami and the thumb/calf was a freak injury couldn't really do anything about that i guess as that came mid-match...hopefully none or only one (being realistic) injury will be next year

Nov 17th, 2007, 09:22 PM
I think this would be a nice schedule for Serena.

Hopman Cup
Australian Open
Fed Cup
Qatar Total Open
Sony Ericsson Open
Family Circle Cup
Internazionali BNL d'Italia
Roland Garros
East West Bank Classic (LA)
Toray Pan Pacific Open
China Open
Kremlin Cup

Well I think Serena is not going to play my schedule but this was the thinking behind it.
- Serena officially confirmed she would play Hopman Cup and Australian Open and Fed Cup. I think that is a good decision, match play one week rest and then Melbourne Title Defense. And then Fed Cup.
- two weeks of rest, then big tier 1 tourney in Doha, where also the YEC will take place in 2008! She has nothing to defend here, so she can play relaxed with no pressure.
- 4 weeks of rest, period to train and get ready for the title defense in Miami and getting ready for the clay season.
- Miami, title defender will start very well rested!
- One week rest, getting used to claycourts.
- Family Circle Cup, she has almost no points to defend, perfect place to start the clay court season!
- well there is Fed Cup but if I were Serena I wouldn't play it, I think three weeks of rest will be good for her. Three weeks where you can practice on red clay to get ready for Rome and Roland Garros.
- well trying to exercise a few things on the red clay at the tournament of Rome.
- one week rest
- Two weeks of Roland Garros, she has quarterfinal points to defend!
- Two weeks rest after that tournament, training in the US for Wimbledon
- Wimbledon tourney!!!!!!
- After Wimbledon another two weeks of rest, to leave the first tough half of the year behind her.
- LA TOURNAMENT, it's a tournament Serena loves to perform, so if I were her I would play this tournament.
- Well I decided it is better for Serena not to play Montreal, because in 2004 she injured her knee by playing to much during the USOPEN series, and I think the Olympics are more important this year for Serena.
- Two weeks of Olympic Games!!!
- One week of rest recovering from jet lag of China and getting ready for the last Grand Slam of the year.
- Well one week of rest, I think it wouldn't be a surprise if Serena elected to play in Asia this fall, since Venus had great experiences with it. And Serena loves Asia as well.
- Playing outdoors the Tokyo Pan Pacific Open!
- This is the only time I would like to see Serena playing two tournaments in a row, China Open hard court outdoors as well.
- Well if I were Serena I wouldn't play any other tournament during the fall season, since the YEC is outdoors and Serena needs rest after a long year if she plays this schedule, but I can imagine if she wants to play in Russia. But I would say skip that tournament. So that would mean one month of rest and doing fun things etc.
- YEC!

I tried to build in a lot of rest, since Serena's body is fragile and vulnerable. Especially the knee. And I know she isn't planning playing a lot of tournaments. So I think this would be quite okay.

look for serena to play probably the same tournies she played this year bar zurich..even the ones she withdrew from except in the summer where she plays olympics...how she schedules i believe will all be centered around the olympics

Nov 18th, 2007, 10:31 AM
Are Ree and Vee definitely going to play Olympics? Anyone got any good links?

Dec 4th, 2007, 05:12 PM
Serena officially entered the Open Gaz de France Paris tournament, she won that tournament in 1999 and 2003!

Dec 7th, 2007, 11:14 AM
Serena officially entered Antwerp indoor tournament!

Dec 7th, 2007, 03:18 PM
Yep I knew this info since last night. Bob Verbeeck is a close friend of our family...

Although I wouldn't hope very much on Serena playing at Antwerp... It's 4 Tournaments in less than 8 weeks. Which I've never seen her do in her carreer before... So I would only see Serena playing in Antwerp if she doesn't make the final in Paris... I know this in cruel, I'm a big Serena lover, but I higly doubt her playing so many tournaments in a small amount of time.

The most likely schedule;

1) Hopman Cup
2) Australian Open (TBA)
3) Open Gaz de France ($600,000)
4) Qatar Total Open ($2,500,000)
5) Dubai Championships (1,500,000)
6) Sony Ericsson Open ($3,770,000)

7) Family Circle Cup ($1,340,000)
8) Fed Cup Semifinals (she has to play to qualify for the olympics)
9) Qatar Telecom German Open ($1,340,000)
10) Internazionali BNL d'Italia (1,340,000)
11) Roland Garros (TBA)

12) Wimbledon (TBA0

13) East West Bank Classic ($600,000)
14) Rogers Cup ($1,340,000)
15) Olympics (TBA)
16) Us Open (TBA)

17) Porsche Tennis Grandprix ($650,000)
18) Kremlin Cup (1,340,000)
19) SEC ($4,450,000)

I bold-out the most predictable tourneys...

Dec 7th, 2007, 03:50 PM
That would be a nice schedule!!

Unfortunately, the WTA Tour site is about as useful as tits on a bull when it comes to providing anything that's seven years old or more.I'm trying to get some info on Serena's impressive early tournament victories--specifically Indian Wells '99,L.A. 1999-2000 and Tokyo 2000.Does anyone know where I could find drawsheets for these previous tourneys?Frankly,I'd be satisfied with just a complete list of the players that SW beat on the way to these titles.Feliz Navidad!!:wavey:

Talk about commitment. If Serena can repeat in Australia, she can really contend for # 1.

I'm incredibly impressed. Albeit, there will be some withdrawals, I expect Serena to show up to all minus 1 or 2.

:rocker2: Allez!

Dec 18th, 2007, 12:26 AM
I really hope that this is her year!!!:worship:
I love that schedule!! <3:bounce::dance::banana::woohoo:

Dec 18th, 2007, 02:52 AM
great schedule...basically the same as this year with the only additions being gaz de france and antwerp...realistically expect 1 or 2 withdrawals due to any sort of minor injury..other than that it shows her commitment to getting back to the top

Dec 18th, 2007, 05:05 PM
I think she will end up withdrawing from Antwerp and Bangalore
