Are we gonna see a Patty tank job since she always hated this part of the calendar and never played Indian Wells?

justine schnyder
Mar 12th, 2009, 02:53 PM
I'm a bit scared of this tank thing, but she better not do this, she's not doing well this season and she needs points or her ranking will go more down and then QF in RG won't be easy to defend

I don't know what to expect. Rainer said she is still motivated, but is kind of hampered by a injury she got in Bali last year. She might be able to play good here but obviously would inevitably lose to Venus if she can win some matches.

Patty also entered the doubles tournament (wDekmeijere), they won their first round match against Zahlavova Strycova/Czink. I don't think Dekmeijere was a good choice as partner but at least they managed to move on to R2.
I really hope Patty can beat Vesnina in singles but I don't really think so. It seems like EV has a really great run at the moment, semis last week, and now 6-0 6-2 in 1st round against Rodina. However, I wish Patty all the best (of course) :):):)

I am home now, so it was great that Patty won the last match I will ever see her play live. Liga started out really badly and missing just about everything but down 26 *13 she hit some good volleys and everything turned around. She had a clutch overhead at 77 in the tiebreaker and was very happy when they won--both of them were, but Liga was very demonstrative. Another good result in doubles this year for Patty, but I can't see them beating Mattek-Sands/Petrova; just too strong of a team.

Yes, bad achievements this year.:( Still, it's not a shame to lose a player who is on a roll. Agree with Mr. Joyful -- not the worst loss of the year.

I don't know where is the proper thread, so I'll ask it here. It was planned the 'White Mile' book release on February 2007, but it isn't yet out. Does anyone know why?

Patty through 1st round in rome... 7-6(1), 6-3 victory. Not too well played, especially in parts of 1st set (was 3-5 down) and in beginning of 2nd (0-2 down). However, she showed us, that she is still able to beat a top 150 player.
Next up Serena Williams... could get interesting! Serena hasn't been in a really good shape, during the last few months

She played very well, it was funny that after winning the first set she called her coach/husband and according to some posters here who speak German she wasn't that confident, but he was telling her she can win, just keep making her work for the points. Sometimes I think the coaches on the WTA are only there as moral support for their players. JJ eventually finished with an easy smash miss to the side Patty had guessed anyway. Patty is in WImbledon draw?!?!
She is seeded as #21 and faces Sugiyama first.
I'm really surprised she plays!

Good that she plans on playing:)

Not a bad draw really, Sugi hasn't been winning many matches lately. If Patty actually puts in effort she could pull out a win, but I'm not expecting anything.

The rest of her draw is horrible anyway.

I'm really deceived, Patty is not playing doubles here with Groenefeld
Just one or two wins would have been needed and she would have entered the top 15:(:(:(!!!
