Apparently, an athletic, size 4 female just isn't fat enough for our society of overweight gluttons to find attractive...

lol. They just want her to gain weight so they won't feel so bad about weighing 300 pounds.

That's my point... we're such a fat and lazy society that we would rather drag healthy, attractive women into a mindset that you have to be fat to be attractive rather than actually try to get ourselves into shape to be attractive...

Here's another pic... there is absolutely no reason this girl needs to put on any weight...

Ishe US size 4 or UK size 4?

UK size 4 is USA size zero. US size 4 is UK size 8 which is a fine size for a woman.

wha?!!

1- shes ugly anyway
2- "beauty pageants" are arcane and problematic in the first place.
3- she seems like a crybaby anyway.
4- you are an idiot if you think this concerns more than a few nutjobs, because it certainly is a non-issue for "western society".
"western society" my ass.
more like "a handful of tragic souls still stuck in the 1950s that care about beauty pageants"

She's definitely on the skinnier side but it's her body.

IMHO, it wouldn't hurt her to put on a bit of weight - though doing it for competition is not a reason to try.

You've got totally the wrong take on this. In Europe, they're very concerned about anorexia and bulumia. They've actually banned models who are too skinny from certain of the high end fashion things. I might, they didn't tell her she needed to gain weight. They told her that if she wanted to win Miss World she needed to gain weight. But it's a role model thing. They're trying to avoid young girls getting sick trying to get Daniela Hanutuchova's build.

Certain, that particular girl seems in fine shape, but the point about sizes vs UK sizes is well taken. If she's a UK size 4, I sure don't want most girls trying to get to that level of slenderness. Most people's genetics just aren't there. However, sticking strictly to the USA, about 30% of the population here is clinically obese, which IS pretty pathetic.

I posted about this yesterday, citing msnbc.

British beauty queen told to pack on the pounds

Miss England shocked when told Miss World pageant prefers ‘curvy’ to thin

http://msnbcmedia1.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photo_StoryLevel/071026/071026_missengland_vlrg_6a.standard.jpgMost women would do just about anything to have a body like the one inhabited by Miss England Georgia Horsley, and Horsley herself is quite happy with it.
So it came as somewhat of a surprise to Horsley when she was advised that if she wanted a real shot of winning the Miss World title, she had better pack on a few pounds.
“I was a little bit shocked,” the 20-year-old size 4 told TODAY co-host Meredith Vieira during an interview Friday. “Personally I don’t think I’m too fat. I don’t think I’m too thin. I’m happy with the way I am.”

At 5-foot-8, Horsley weighs 9 stone in England, 126 pounds in the United States, and 57 kilos everywhere else.
“I’ve just got more an athletic, boyish-type figure rather than the hourglass-type figure some women have,” Horsley remarked.

People hate on beauty queens just so they can say they hate on beauty queens.

It's more the opposite, in my opinion. People are taught that if they're not grossly emaciated then they're disgusting.

She's nowhere near as thin in this pic (I'm presuming its not photoshopped) as a retired tennis player whose looks are frequently "kovarated" on this site. This girl looks fine to me.

It's women. They are obsessed about weight. I have never understood it.
