Cape Town (Afrikaans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afrikaans) and Dutch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_language): Kaapstad; Xhosa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xhosa_language): iKapa) is the third most populous city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_cities_in_South_Africa_by_populati on) in South Africa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa), forming part of the metropolitan municipality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_municipality_%28South_Africa%29) of the City of Cape Town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Cape_Town). It is the provincial capital (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital) of the Western Cape (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Cape), as well as the legislative (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legislature) capital of South Africa, where the National Parliament (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliament_of_South_Africa) and many government offices are located. Cape Town is famous for its harbour as well as its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_floral_kingdom), including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_Mountain) and Cape Point (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Point). Often regarded as one of the world's most beautiful cities because of its geography, Cape Town is the most popular South African destination for tourism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism).
Cape Town was originally developed as a victualling station for Dutch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands) ships sailing to Eastern Africa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Africa), India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India), and the Far East (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_East) more than 200 years before the construction of the Suez Canal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suez_Canal) in 1869. Jan van Riebeeck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_van_Riebeeck)'s arrival on 6 April (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_6)1652 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1652) established the first permanent European settlement in South Africa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa). Cape Town quickly outgrew its original purpose as the first European outpost at the Castle of Good Hope (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_of_Good_Hope). It was the largest city in South Africa until the growth of Johannesburg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannesburg) and Durban (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durban).
According to the 2001 Census (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_National_Census_of_2001), the city has a population of 2.95 million.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Town#_note-mdb-ctmp2006) Cape Town's land area of 2,499 square kilometres (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_kilometre) (965 sq mi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_mile)) is larger than other South African cities, resulting in a comparatively lower population density of 1,158 people per square kilometre (2,999/sq mi).[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Town#_note-mdb-ctmp2006) Cape Town is town twinned (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_twinning) with Nice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nice) in France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France) and Haifa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haifa) in Israel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel).

yes i think their results are good ... lisa, tegan and tamara are good doubles players and monica, christi, este, bronwyn and janine are very young .... mach denen das erstmal nach .... so lange sie spaß dabei haben und ab und an mal ein spiel gewinnen ist es sehr schön für sie ein schwach besetztes turnier in ihrer heimat zu haben

you dont get the point. Of course they should play. ITF is too stupid to organize some tournaments there. It actually works with junior tournaments in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. They were skipping points for qualifying on 10,0004 tournaments, Now there are such tournaments were actually more than 50% get points for winning a match. They should try to make 2-3 10,000$ and maybe two 25,000$ down there. Then it makes sense

Namibia had two decent junior players Suzelle and Janine Davin. But both died in a car accident I think two years ago

Yes DOUBLES being the important word. ;) I followed the RSA girls for a long time - was a big fan of Coetzer, so even if I had remembered Nannie's first name was reall Esme I wouldn't pick her.
Doubles Final:
du Plessis/Marshall(1) d. Edwards/Lemmens(2) 6-2 6-3

WTF...I do remember her! She was a GREAT doubles player :worship:
In 1994 she won Wimbledon juniors, she made the final of the US Open and reached semis in RG.
In seniors she even has a WTA title in Canberra 2002 and 2 other finals plus several semis. She (and Steck) even defeated Raymond/Stubbs in WTA Scottsdale 2000 and has reached round of 16 in both RG and Wimbledon. She also has reached semis in mixed doubles in RG and quarterfinals in Wimbledon and RG (again).
Eventhough she was a much better doubles player she did well in singles being top 200 WTA and playing some slams qualies and having some impressive wins over Bovina, Brandi, McNeil, Jidkova, Morigami or Serra Zannetti. She even had a trashing over 15 yo Alicia Molik in 1996 (62 60)
I certainly expected a better showing here even if she hasn't played in over 4 years :tape:
